Mrs. Doubtfire home in San Francisco sells for $4.15 million
A San Francisco home that served as the setting for the popular 1993 movie Mrs. Doubtfire, starring Robin Williams, has sold for $4.15 million.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the four-bedroom Victorian in the Pacific Heights neighborhood sold this week after being listed in September for $4.45 million. It did not identify the buyer.
The iconic Mrs. Doubtfire house served as a temporary shrine to Williams after his suicide in 2014, amassing flowers, candles and other items mourning the Bay Area-based comedian's death.
Big bucks: A San Francisco home that served as the setting for the popular 1993 movie Mrs. Doubtfire, starring Robin Williams, has sold for $4.15 million
The previous owner of the home was a plastic surgeon who bought it in 1997 for about $1.4 million.
And it seems he made quite a few improvements, with the aim of modernizing certain parts of the 1893 Victorian style home.
Perhaps the most updated room is the kitchen, which now boasts dark granite counter tops, built-in stainless steel appliances and white, shaker-style cabinets.

Original: The cabinets were originally generic, light wood as can be seen in the scene from the film
Two contemporary pendant lights hover over the functional island which also doubles as a breakfast bar with seating for two.
Of course many of the elements viewers of the classic movie will appreciate are still present, and appear to have actually been redone.
The hardwood floors appear to be in excellent condition, and still sport a contrasting border line detail in several rooms.

Airy: For a late 19th century Victorian, the home is unusually large, and includes four bedrooms on the second floor
Much of the home's antique, custom decorative molding is still also in place.
For a late 19th century Victorian, the home is unusually large, and includes four bedrooms on the second floor in addition to very large living spaces on the first floor.
'Because it's built on a wide corner lot, the public rooms are large scale and the home has an open feel,' confirmed listing agent Steven Gothelf.
Old charm: Much of the home's antique, custom decorative molding is still also in place
The star: Robin Williams played the cross-dressing Mrs. Doubtfire in the classic film (pictured in 2005)
