'I lost Jack': Natalie Portman is a heartbroken First Lady after JFK's assassination in emotionally charged trailer for Jackie 

Natalie Portman morphs into First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in the official trailer for the movie Jackie.

The 35-year-old is seen giving the performance of a lifetime in the emotional two and a half minute long clip, which was released on Monday. 

She looks the part as she dons a pink pill box hat, and is seen heartbroken following the 1963 assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy.

The movie documents the icon's extraordinary dignity and poise following his death as it tells the tale of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history through her eyes.

She's heard being asked whether she believes in fairy tales: 'I believe that the characters we read about on the page end up being more real than the men who stand beside us.' 

The Oscar-winner - who must surely be setting herself up for a second nomination - breaks down in tears as she recounts the shooting which shocked the world: 'Jack, can you hear me....Jack? I love you Jack...'.

The grieving widow of JFK whispers: 'I’m not the first lady anymore'.

'I lost Jack somewhere. What was real? What was performance?'. 

She's seen kneeling in front of his flag-draped coffin and kissing the casket.

The Pablo Larraín biopic also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, Richard E. Grant and John Hurt. 

Meanwhile, the Israeli-born beauty born Neta-Lee Hershlag - and her husband Benjamin Millepied will soon welcome their second child after five-year-old son Aleph.

The Black Swan starlet was spotted on Monday running errands in the Los Angeles' sunshine in a pair of denim shorts.

She put her baby bump on display in a V-neck breton-striped top. 

The star kept it practical in a pair of comfortable sneakers and added a pair of sunglasses to protect her eyes.  

Jackie hits US screens on December 2 and UK cinemas on January 20.
