Khloe Kardashian sparked speculation that she split from basketball player Tristan Thompson after sharing a cryptic message on Instagram.

And the star did little to quash rumours of trouble as she maintained a very low profile while stepping out in Los Angeles on Sunday looking uncharacteristically pared-back.

The 32-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians lead wrapped up in a huge oversized hoodie while chatting on her phone - looking to be distracting herself from her rumoured woes.

Khloe raised eyebrows with an empowering post about relationships, leading some to believe that the clock has run out on her latest romance with Tristan.

In an impassioned post, accompanied by a block-quote of the phrase: 'Fate loves the fearless,' Khloe shared deep and revealing thoughts with more than 58 million followers.

The youngest of the Kardashian sisters initially crossed paths with Thompson, 25 - a 6 ft., 9 in. power forward for the reigning champion Cavs - through her best pal, Malika Haqq, and they began dating in the late summer months.

Yet as the rumour mill erupted with reports of a split, Khloe attempted to maintain a low profile as she headed out in her all black ensemble.

Letting it all out: The reality star showed she's got some writing chops as well with a vivid, inspirational post reflecting her life wisdom

With a hoodie pulled low over her face and a huge pair of sunglasses, the only illustration of her unique flare for fashion was her on-trend fluffy sliders.

When she posted the passionate message reports suggested that the hoopster broke things off after he got tired of being a laughing stock from his Cleveland teammates, who had reportedly nicknamed him 'Tristan Kardashian.'

Khloe's post makes numerous allusions to standing up for yourself and being your own person regardless of what others say, which might lend credence to the reports Thompson couldn't take the heat from his peers.

'Let me remind you that we don't need anybody's approval to be happy in life. EVER! Let you validate and accept your own version of happiness. You choose your life!' she wrote.

She noted that 'there's a huge difference between giving up and letting go,' as giving up is 'allowing fear to limit your opportunities and keep you cemented in place,' while letting go 'means freeing yourself from something that is no longer beneficial to your personal growth.

'It means removing toxic people and toxic mindsets from your life so that you can make room for relationships and ideas that are conducive to your happiness and ever evolving personal expansion.'

The Kardashian women have had spotty luck in their love dealings with NBA players, as Khloe's marriage to Lamar Odom, and sister Kim's to Kris Humphries, both ended in messy public breakups. Khloe was also romantically linked for some time to James Harden, the superstar point guard for the Houston Rockets.
