EXCLUSIVE: 'I don't look like a Victoria's Secret model': Ferne McCann talks self-loathing and the reason for going public with THAT nose job

She may appear to be the picture of confidence on television, but former TOWIE star Ferne McCann has admitted that she regularly has 'ugly days'.

Ferne went public with her face-changing nose job in August, telling MailOnline in a Facebook Live chat on Monday that it had been 'her only insecurity'.

The television personality explains how she regularly beats bouts of 'self-loathing' and accepts that she shouldn't compare herself to Victoria's Secret models.

On learning to love herself, Ferne told MailOnline: 'It's really difficult. Sometimes I spend nights on my Instagram feed and feel really sh** about myself.

'I find myself thinking there's just so many beautiful people out there and I feel rubbish about myself, we all get those ugly days.'

In the same breath, the reality TV star went on to say that she's better at praising herself for the little things now, offering advice on combating her 'self-loathing'.

'Yeah, I don't look like a Victoria's Secret model,' she said. But I [tell myself I] did ace that job interview today.

Beating her insecurities: Ferne had cosmetic surgery in August to 'fix' her one insecurity

Going public: Ferne (left, before and right, after) now says that going public on an episode of Thsi Morning was a good choice because she didn't want the backlash from people asking questions

Not promoting it: She says that she is not advocating surgery because she's not a walking, talking example of multiple surgeries

'And the way I wore that skirt looks amazing, and you give yourself a little morning talk to start your day off well.'

Ferne made the brave decision to undergo cosmetic surgery earlier this year and 'fix' an insecurity that had long plagued her.

But she was yet more brave to share the results live on television, during a 'big reveal' on ITV's This Morning, in August.

'The reason I was so honest about it, is that I couldn't be bothered with the backlash and people who think they have the right to tweet you about what they think.'

Don't compare yourself: The reality TV star says that she refuses to compare herself to Victoria's Secret models, like Adriana Lima (pictured)

Though as a public figure, Ferne still faced questions over whether she was advocating surgery to a younger audience, especially the loyal following of ITVBe's The Only Way Is Essex.

Ferne's response was: 'For people thinking that I'm promoting plastic surgery, is just rubbish because you can see what type of girl I am, I'm not that 'surge' looking girl.

'It's not like I'm a walking, walking plastic surgery promoter, it was just my one insecurity but I'm still a big believer in learning to love yourself from the inside.'

Since joining the reality show in the ninth series in 2013, the star has faced her fair-share of trolling.

'When it comes to trolls,' Ferne said. 'You just become really thick-skinned and try not to read them.

She's had it all: Ferne says that she has had everything written about her that there can possibly be, but she's developed a thick skin to it

'Surround yourself with your friends and people that love you. I've read them all, everything that anyone could possibly write about me.'

On her portrayal in TOWIE compared to life in the I'm A Celebrity jungle, she added: 'I always used to watch it and think I wasn't that bad. I give my opinions and be straight talking but it's edited down to get people's reaction shots.

'Constructed reality can paint you in a different light. In the jungle, you can see the real side to people. It was nice to show the real me.

'For my mum, it was hard because everyone thought I was argumentative. With TOWIE, you watch someone slag you off and your blood boils and it's intense. You don't behave like yourself.'

Theatre-trained Ferne teased a major presenting gig for 2017 and also hinted that she was focusing on making a return to acting.

Argumentative? Ferne responded to the way that she was portrayed as a 'love or hate' character on ITVBe's TOWIE

The real me: Ferne got the opportunity to show her fun side in I'm A Celebrity, last year

Body confidence; The star was a popular character to have around in I'm A Celeb, which has recently returned for a new series
