'You're a chauvinistic pig!': Geri Horner blasts director who wanted The Spice Girls to reveal more cleavage in feisty behind-the-scenes throwback video

They popularised the term Girl Power in the mind nineties.

And a leaked behind-the-scenes clip from a Spice Girls Polaroid ad shoot in 1997 shows the group were very much dedicated to female empowerment.

Geri Horner, Mel B and Victoria Beckham reacted angrily when a cocky director asked them to show cleavage and midriff because it was 'every man's fantasy'.

Approaching the man in question and his writer pal, Mel B questioned why they asked to see their bodies.

Unimpressed by their response she turned her back and said: 'Well you can f**k off!'

The director shrugged his shoulders and replied 'that's showbiz'. Riled Geri then vented: 'You're a chauvinistic pig. That's such an easy cop out!'

Victoria then stormed across the courtyard, and said: 'It's not sunny,' before removing the man's sunglasses and adding, 'stop trying to look cool.'

Smiling broadly, Posh Spice jokingly asked for a fiver for the 'really nice shades', while Mel B was happy to take 'a quid'.

The man's pal then tried to say they were just trying to make the girls' school uniforms more like 'The Spice Girls'.

The person filming the episode uttered 'spank them', much to Victoria's surprise.

While the girls have each broken off to pursue their individual interests over the years, Geri, Emma Bunton and Mel B revealed they will be reuniting under the acronym GEM to record new music and perform a live show in 2017 in honour of the 21st anniversary of their debut single Wannabe.

The three singers recorded a special YouTube video for fans earlier this year. 

With the instrumental from Wannabe playing in the background, Mel B is first to pop up on screen, saying: 'We've been thinking... We have the best fans in the entire world.'

'You've stood by us for 20 years, and we wanna say a big thank you,' adds Geri.

Emma, who was known as Baby Spice in the band's heyday, adds with a glowing smile: 'We've had our ups and downs, but you've always been there.'

The Spice Girls formed in 1994 and became one of the world's most popular British pop groups since The Beatles after Wannabe hit the charts in 1996.

During their nineties heyday, the group managed to sell more than 80million records, making them the best-selling female group of all time.

After a seven year hiatus, they reunited in 2007 and embarked on a global tour and their Greatest Hits album peaked at No.2 on the UK Album Chart.

The girls last performed together at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, where they arrived in the stadium in a gem encrusted black cab, singing hits such as Wannabe and Spice Up Your Life.
