Charlotte Riley transforms into the Duchess of Cambridge complete with fine jewels and sweeping fringe as she films royal drama King Charles III

The Duchess of Cambridge is never seen with a hair out of place.

Which is perhaps why actress Charlotte Riley was seen arriving on Day 2 of King Charles III filming, with her hair net still protecting her curls.

Paying attention to detail, the 34-year-old Peaky Blinders actress was dressed in fine jewels and concealing a sweeping gown as she transformed into Kate Middleton, also 34, on the Beverley, Yorkshire set.

Familiar: Charlotte Riley looked remarkably similar to the Duchess of Cambridge on Wednesday, as she continued filming for King Charless III in Beverley

The scenes in Yorkshire followed the first gathering of the cast, following the official announcement of roles last week.

And the forthcoming scene was likely to depict Kate's arrival at one of her many formal functions.

Yet she was still only halfway there, with her hair clipped away and a long, padded overcoat keeping her warm between takes.

Spot the difference: The actress (left) seemed to be keeping her hair under wraps, to perfect Kate Middleton's (right) long and glossy waves

Between takes: She was comfortably dressed between takes, with her coat covering up her costume

Charlotte was captured on the Beverley set with a bottle of water in hand and comfortable boots hidden just beneath her hemline.

The inventive drama imagines the death of death of Queen Elizabeth II and the ascension of Prince Charles.

King Charles III sees the new king refuse to sign a controversial bill causing political chaos, rioting on the streets and a tank in front of Buckingham Palace.

The 90-minute one-off programme is based on the Laurence Olivier award-winning 2014 play of the same name, which also stars Tim Pigott-Smith and Oliver Chris, as well as Richard Goulding as Harry and Adam James as the prime minister.

The cast gathered at Beverley Minster on Tuesday to commence filming.

Filming continues: The drama commenced filming on Tuesday, at Beverley Minster

The parish church has previously been used as a double for West Minster Abbey in the likes of ITV's Victoria, so it is possible that they were filming a royal funeral or coronation scene.

Announcements about the roles were only made last week, with Tom Hardy's wife in the central role.

In a statement about the drama, Charlotte said: 'It's such a unique project, to be both modern and rich in verse and to play someone who is real but yet totally re-imagined for this story.

'Kate Middleton is a really interesting woman, particularly within the context of this play, and it is a challenge I am really looking forward to.'

Getting prepped: The star was spotted peeping beneath a professional wig cap

Charlotte is best known for her role in Peaky Blinders, a drama based around a gangster in 1919.

The actress played May Carleton, while her husband co-starred in the role of Alfie Solomons.

She previously played Cathy in a TV adaptation of Wuthering Heights in 2009, and says that despite her County Durham-upbringing, regularly plays 'posh' parts.

'People do like casting me as posh birds for some reason,' she recently told London's Evening Standard. 'I don't know why. It's like the complete opposite of what I am.'

She added: 'I never get seen for things that are northern, I don't know why. I don't know if people have forgotten that I'm northern?'

Throwback: Riley, who played May Carleton in Peaky Blinders (centre), says that she is 'excited' to play the Duchess, describing her as 'a really interesting woman'
