Researchers from Haverford and New Jersey found the neural processes underlying visual search behavior in hawks were similar to those in humans. A Northern Goshawk named Shinta was fitted with a tiny head-mounted camera as part of the groundbreaking study to produce stunning 'hawk's eye' footage to allow the team to work out where the bird was looking.

Avoid THIS car wash at all costs! Footage shows car battery being sliced in half by powerful jet sprayer
With razor-sharp precision, a waterjet can slice perfectly through an iPhone, creating the distinctive Apple logo in seconds. Dan Hicken, 27, and Mitchell Fillmore, 31, from Bountiful in Utah, have filmed a series of videos of their waterjet, which is pressurised to 60,000 pounds per square inch (psi), cutting through a range of products. The pair upload their videos to their YouTube channel, called The Waterjet Channel, so curious viewers can see what's inside a car battery, bowling ball and even an LED light bulb. Mitchell said: 'We had the idea one Sunday, and the next week we cut a seashell and a rubber ball.'
The fuel-free EmDrive 'is NOT impossible', leading experts admit - but say they are baffled by how it actually works
Last week, a leaked NASA paper appeared to show that scientists had successfully created a working EmDrive prototype. The radical fuel-free engine defies the laws of physics and has long been dubbed ‘impossible,’ but if achieved, it could get humans to Mars in just 10 weeks. While many have cast doubt on the findings, experts now say there ‘may really be something there’ – but, the cause might be something entirely different than what’s been proposed. Rather than the quantum vacuum theory which was initially cited to explain the findings, a phenomenon known as the ‘Mach effect’ could be to blame, according to Motherboard .
Who's a CLEVER boy then? Impressive footage shows cockatoos making tools using different materials to reach food
The Goffin's cockatoo, a native of Indonesia, is not known to use tools in the wild or to have evolved the ability to build nests from twigs. Yet four captive birds demonstrated a striking level of lateral thinking by constructing tools to retrieve food placed out of their reach, a new study by the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna and the University of Oxford has found. The hand-raised parrots, Figaro, Dolittle (pictured), Kiwi and Pipin, had to fashion a tool at least 2.4 inches (6cm) long that could be poked through a hole to dislodge a tasty piece of cashew nut.
Watch the US Army's real-life PHASER GUN in action: Weapon can knock out a swarm of drones, cars and even smart missiles with a single blast of microwave energy

Meet 'Baby Boom': Richard Branson-backed mini-concorde that can fly from London to New York in 3.5 hours is unveiled
Claimed to be the 'world's fastest civil aircraft ever made', the XB-1 Supersonic Demonstrator created by Denver-based boom is due to take off on its first test flight in late 2017. Richard Branson (pictured inset) and his Virgin Galactic space firm backed the development of the plane. The hope is that the prototype will eventually be scaled up to produce the Boom Passenger Airliner. The airline tycoon has confirmed that Virgin has options to buy 10 of the recently revealed supersonic Boom jets, which will be capable of flying at 1,451mph - about 100mph faster than Concorde - and reaching New York from London in three and a half hours.
The 'invisible' Milky Way: Interactive map lets you explore our galaxy with superhuman vision
The interactive galactic map enables users to filter their view of the universe by radiation bands, incorporating stunning images captured by a survey in Murchison, Western Australia. As part of the project, astronomers have made the app available on Android phones and tablets and even a representative 3D view, using Google cardboard. Pictured are views of the universe in the visible spectrum (left), as well as filtered for infrared (middle) and microwave radiation.
Could YOU survive the suicide circle? Maths puzzle solved by Jewish soldier to avoid death at the hands of Roman soldiers explained
If you are standing in a suicide circle with 40 other people, but do not want to die, where should you position yourself? This is the question Flavius Josephus asked himself while standing in a circle in 67 AD. After going through different sequences and finding significant patterns, a modern-day mathematician reveals Josephus must have been standing in the 19th place if he was the only one left alive after each solider took turns killing their neighbor.
The 'Stone Age Atlantis': Stunning video reveals the 9,000-year-old settlement found submerged under the sea off Sweden
Just off the coast of southern Sweden, researchers have discovered what’s thought to be the submerged remains of an ancient Stone Age lagoon community. The findings include a 9,000-year-old pick axe sculpted from elk antlers, and eight fish traps made of braided hazel rods. According to the researchers, the settlers that once lived there likely had ‘good lives,’ with plenty of food and a favourable climate. But, the lagoon environment sank as sea levels rose in the centuries that followed.
