Police officers performed CPR on him after arriving at the house in Gresham at 7.34pm, but their efforts were unsuccessful, Gresham Police Officer Malaka Kerbs told the Portland Tribune.

The boy's father identified his body.

It's unclear how many shots were fired, and police are still investigating the events that led to the shooting, KGW reported.

Jacob was a student at the Metro East Web Academy in the 2013-14 school year, but there is no record of him attending the academy or any other school last year or this year, the Tribune reported.

According to court records in Multnomah County, the family's home went into foreclosure in 2012 but the sale was canceled in February 2014.

Wells Fargo bank asked the sheriff's office to take control of the property in November last year.

Court records showed that the home's occupants did not vacate and a notice was sent to them in August asking them to leave the property.

According to the Tribune, the family was preparing to move out on Friday.

Bruce Maiden, their neighbor for five years, said he rarely saw Dianne.

'(She was) very reclusive and recently she was expressing a lot of fear that somebody was after her,' Maiden told KPTV.

'We feel sick and shocked because a young boy's life was taken.'

Maiden also said that Davidoff recently bought a gun out of fear and that she lost her job recently.

'It was a small revolver. she showed it to us tucked in her belt 3 weeks ago,' Maiden told KPTV.

He said that she would tell stories involving the FBI and suspicious people lurking in the neighborhood.

He was worried about her changing behavior, he said, but didn't think she would commit murder.

Davidoff's relatives told KPTV that she may have thought her son was an intruder.

The Oregonian reported that the mother was experiencing money problems and had debt collection agencies chasing after her.

Davidoff, who is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center, is scheduled to be arraigned on September 28 in downtown Portland at Multnomah County Circuit Court.

She is being charged with the murder of her son and unlawful use of a weapon.
