Crumbling buildings, rotting wood and mossy buildings - what was once a thriving place of industry and entertainment is now decaying slowly each day.  These photographs show Birnbeck Pier, on the North Somerset coastline at Weston-super-Mare, in its current state. It was built between 1864 and 1867 and provided tourist attractions, such as a water slide and fairground rides, to the Victorians for many years. The Grade II-listed pier, known as the Old Pier, was also a major transportation link, with scheduled steam ship services arriving from and departing to destinations including Cardiff, Minehead, Ilfracombe and Lundy Island. The last of these sailings, by the MV Balmoral, took place in 1979.

Can I be your kid? Baby monkey breaks into a goat farm and picks its new mother - and now the pair are inseparable 

A baby monkey which was separated from its parents has picked its new mother from a flock of goats, according to Chinese media. The little animal, from China's Jiangxi Province, latches onto the back of its new parent, a black nanny goat, wherever she goes. Goat farmer Zhong Shu said the monkey sneaked into his farm six days ago and had treated the goat pen as its home.
