It's good to be Hannity: Fox News host tops New York Rich List with $29M in the past year - more than Matt Lauer and his co-workers Megyn Kelly and Bill O'Reilly

  • Sean Hannity made $29 million last year between his Fox News show and his radio talk show
  • That put him ahead of Matt Lauer, who made $22 million for hosting Today
  • Hannity also made more than his Fox News co-worker Bill O'Reilly, who took home $18 million
  • Megyn Kelly pocketed $12 million for her work on The Kelly File

Sean Hannity may not have had as many viewers as his Fox News co-workers Megyn Kelly and Bill O'Reilly last month, but he is making much more money.

The Observer released their annual New York Rich List on Wednesday, revealing that Hannity made more than any other news host with $29 million over the past year, thanks to both his gig hosting Hannity on Fox News as well as his popular radio talk show.

O'Reilly meanwhile pulled in $18 million last year while Kelly took home somewhere around $12 million.

The three had the top-rated cable news programs on television last month.

The second highest paid host behind Hannity was Matt Lauer, who made $22 million for his work on Today.

Of the top 10 highest-paid hosts, four of the names were from Fox News, with Shepherd Smith also making the cut.

TOP PAID NYC HOSTS

1. Sean Hannity - $29million

2. Matt Lauer - $22million

3. Bill O'Reilly - $18million

4. Robin Roberts - $14million

5. Megyn Kelly - $12million

6. Anderson Cooper - $11million

7. Shepherd Smith - $10million

8. George Stephanopoulos - $8million

9. Rachel Maddow - $7million

9. David Muir - $7million

He made $10 million in the past year, while also making headlines when he disclosed that he was gay in an interview last month.

He was not the only gay man on the list with CNN host Anderson Cooper making $11 million.

Coming in behind Hannity, Lauer and O'Reilly but just ahead of Kelly was Robin Roberts, who made around $14 million for waking up early every day to host Good Morning America.

Her co-host George Stephanopoulos pulled in $8 million last year, putting him just above the final two names on the list, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow and ABC news anchor David Muir.

They both made $7 million in the past year.

These numbers seem to only include the hosting contracts of these individuals, and not any outside money they may have received from books or public appearances.

It is better to be the head of a media company than a host though, with the boss' of the ten biggest making far, far more over the past year.

Rupert Murdoch, who is currently the acting CEO of Fox News, made $39.8 million, while Steve Burke of NBC made $33.6 million.

Rupert's son James also made the list, with the CEO of 21st Century Fox pocketing $26.4 million last year.
