'We never dated': Eddie Redmayne reveals Taylor Swift auditioned for a role in Les Miserables as he clears up romance rumours 

She's a successful singer who has turned her hand to acting with a couple of choice film roles. 

And it's now been revealed that Taylor Swift was hoping to combine both her talents, as Eddie Redmayne confessed the songstress auditioned for the big-screen adaptation of Les Miserables. 

Discussing how 'amazing' she was during the process, Eddie was also quick to clear up rumours that they enjoyed a romance, which began to circulate the same year he starred in the Oscar-winning blockbuster.

After being asked about their rumoured fling, Eddie told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live: 'I absolutely can put the rumors to rest. I never went out on a date with Taylor Swift.'

Explaining where the gossip stemmed from, the star confessed: 'She auditioned for Les Misérables, she was amazing in the audition. 

'We got to sing together, which was a big moment for me, but no, we never went out.'

Full of praise for the Grammy-winning artist, Eddie continued: 'She was extraordinary.'

Taylor is no stranger to the acting world, having landed a role in the star-studded 2010 hit Valentine's Day, and bagging a part in sci-fi flick, The Giver. 

It was previously reported that the blonde beauty wanted to make more of a name for herself in the world of acting, with rumours swirling that she would be taking a break from her music career to pursue work on-camera. 

An insider told Sugarscape: 'She wants to move into acting while writing songs that aren’t about her latest breakup. 

'She wants to really make a different and leave an impact on the world that will be remembered.' 

Girls on film: Taylor is also no stranger to the acting world, having landed a role in the star-studded 2010 hit Valentine's Day, and was said to have been pursuing more roles 

Meanwhile, Eddie has no plans to slow down his career, and can thank his role in Les Miserables for helping him find his wife, Hannah Bagshawe. 

Whilst the pair had been friends for years, it wasn't until the PR executive jetted to Italy to visit him as he filmed the flick, that romance blossomed.

Two years later, the pair were married at Babington House in Somerset, and they welcomed a daughter, Iris Mary, in June.
