The pair made the announcement together in an video on the Duggar's family website

'Hey y'all! I'm Joy Duggar and this is Austin,' Joy-Anna said in the clip, before Austin revealed: 'I just asked her to enter a courtship with me.'

'And I said yes!' she said, adding: 'We've known each other for a long time.'

'Almost 15 years,' said Austin. 'I picked this spot because last time we were here together was August 1, 2015.'

'There was a whole group of us that came up,' remembered Joy-Anna. 'And we were just hanging out and it was really late at night, stars were just gorgeous.

'For me that’s really special, but then just being with him. And then now it’s even more special because it’s where we start our courtship.'

Austin added: 'It’s a place that I’ve come many times to just get away and spend time with the Lord. I just knew that this was the place that I wanted to ask her.'

Joy-Anna finished the video by declaring she was 'so happy' to be entering the courtship.

Happy family: The family also shared a video on their website featuring parents Jim Bob and Michelle congratulating her on her courtship

Joy-Anna and Austin are not allowed to hold hands and can only side hug during their courtship, and the two must have a chaperone on all dates.

The chaperones are often the boys in the Duggar family.

Most importantly, the couple cannot kiss until their wedding day, an event that has been filmed and shared during the previous three Duggar children's marriages on their TLC reality show.

Sex before marriage is also strictly off limits.

'We believe it's best for them to save the physical part for marriage,' Duggar family matriarch Michelle has said in the past.

'That way there's no regrets.'

First kiss: Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo exchanged their first ever kiss with each other on Tuesday's episode of Counting On after being pronounced husband and wife

Just married: Jeremy and Jinger beamed as they became married

The other big news in the episode was Jinger Duggar's wedding to Jeremy Vuolo.

The devout Christian reality TV family has a strict rule of courtship that forbids even kissing before marriage.

The wedding episode finally showed Jinger, 22, and soccer star fiancé Jeremy, 29, walking down the aisle.

After being pronounced man and wife, they shared their first kiss.

Her sister Jessa, 24, had been so shy about that magical moment at her own wedding that she had her first kiss in complete privacy away from the altar.

Jinger could not have been more different, passionately embracing Jeremy on stage in front of a packed congregation watching them wed at Cathedral of the Ozarks in Arkansas.

They enjoyed it so much they stopped for a second smooch as the walked away to the front of the cathedral after finally being named Mr and Mrs Jeremy Vuolo by Jeremy's father Chuck, who officiated.

'First kiss was amazing. Right on!' Jinger said excitedly after the ceremony.

The episode followed the full wedding day, from Jeremy and Jinger sharing devotion together in the morning, getting ready with their friends, posing for photographs and finally the full ceremony itself.

Her day: Jinger said their first kiss was amazing

Symbolic meaning: Jeremy and Jinger struggled with the candle ceremony but figured it out

It even captured the light-hearted moment when the couple failed to remove two candles where they were supposed to light a unity candle, symbolizing the two becoming one, with them giggling nervously and finally using a lighter.

But perhaps the most moving moment was Jeremy's eyes filling with tears when he finally saw Jinger walking down the aisle.

She looked stunning in her hand-beaded lace gown with a 13-foot train as she strode down the aisle toward Jeremy with emotional dad Jim Bob.

'I was absolutely overwhelmed,' Jeremy admitted after the ceremony.

Getting emotional: The former soccer player got emotional seeing Jinger walk down the aisle

Long train: Jinger wore an exquisite white wedding gown that featured a long train

'The tears were coming to my eyes. I was just blown away by how beautiful and gorgeous and majestic she was. And is.'

Jinger said: 'When I saw Jeremy standing up there on the stage, I just was so overwhelmed with joy and gratefulness and I just could not wait to…'

After a long pause, Jeremy quickly suggested: 'Be my wife?'

'Be his wife,' Jinger smiled proudly.

Jeremy was not the only one to cry at seeing how beautiful Jinger looked, with Jim Bob, 51, also bursting into tears when he walked in earlier and saw his daughter for the first time in her dress and fully made up.

'You're so beautiful,' he told her. 'You've got to be one of the most beautiful brides ever. Just - wow. You're breathtaking.

Maid of honor: Jessa served as Jinger's maid of honor

Tears flowing: Jim Bob Duggar cried when he saw Jinger in her wedding dress

'Jinger, I'm so happy for you. Today God's answered our prayer,' said the father of 19.

His wife Michelle, 50, had predicted her husband would cry, saying earlier: 'I would think your dad will tear up quite a bit - any time it gets to the point that he knows that he's going to be handing off his daughter. I think he just tears up all the time.

'I know he'll cry,' she predicted.

But his emotions were heightened when Jinger handed him a handkerchief with the message: 'To my dad. You were the first man I ever loved. When you give me away today, know that I will always be your little girl. Your loving daughter.'

'I thought it would get easier the more girls that got married, but I think it's actually getting harder,' Jim Bob insisted.
