Sarah wowed in the shoot for Net-A-Porter's web magazine where she shunned her usual teetering heels and glam dresses in favour of a silk kimono while reclining in bed.

In the striking image she lay on a bed giggling while reading a book with her ombre tresses lay around her and her face perfectly made-up.

Another snap saw the stunner, who is best known for playing Carrie Bradshaw in the hit HBO series, enjoying a coffee in the Big Apple while showing off her toned legs.

She pulled a padded jacket over a red and black checked shirt and dazzling silver skirt while looking into the distance while giving a beaming smile.

On the front cover of the magazine, she contrasted high fashion with pure comfort by slipping into a feathered gown paired with a cargo style coat.

Aside from the glam shoot, Sarah got talking to the fashion tome when she spoke of the birth of her 14-year-old son James, who she shares with husband Matthew Broderick, and their seven-year-old twin daughters Marion and Tabitha who were born through a surrogate.

As she only gave birth to one of her three children, Sarah naturally held the moment extremely close to her heart.

When asked what she would relive in her life, she said: 'If I could revisit one moment in my life, it would be the birth of my children, definitely. I only got to give birth once. James is like, why do you always want to talk about that?!

'I’m like, because it’s the greatest! There is this suspended animation around (birth): everything goes away; the entire world is sucked up; time suspends. It’s just you and, in my case, my husband, and this child, and it’s absolute euphoria.'

With the centre of her career-making TV show being New York, Sarah has long become synonymous with the city.

She spoke of her love of NYC: 'We lived in Ohio and, because we couldn’t afford to fly to New York, we would drive. The route my parents took crossed over the George Washington Bridge, heading east to into Manhattan...

'About midway across, you could look south and see this view down the Hudson River with all of Manhattan laid before you, like someone had rolled it out. I can’t really convey how big and sweeping and cinematic that moment was.'

Her and husband of 20 years, Matthew's combined love of the city was touched upon: 'I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I mean, Matthew and I do think about it, we look, we just don’t do it. We stay.

'I used to think we were selfish, but when we came back to New York after the summer break this year I asked my daughters, Would you prefer it if we had space?’ And they said, No!’'

As fans of their city, naturally the horrific terrorist attacks which took down the Twin Towers on 11 September 2001 had a huge effect on their lives.

She said: 'Matthew just couldn’t function. He was born and raised in New York and is very romantic about the city, paying close attention to every shop that shuts down.  So for him, who is sentimental in very quiet ways, it was the most personal experience that I’ve ever really seen him have.

'It was scary for everybody, but to feel that loss, his firehouse… To me, that is a very vivid memory (of the city) because it’s not a happy one; it’s not beautiful and sparkly.'
