'I'm a big fan of Amy. I think she's an extraordinary performer, particularly her performance in this is just really brilliant.'

Amy was equally thrilled about the comparisons, adding: 'Sometimes I've been like, 'Oh yeah! I can totally see it.

Look super sophisticated in a black dress like Amy

At the premiere for Nocturnal Animals in Los Angeles, Amy Adams arrived looking totally glamorous in a black gown by Tom Ford.

The flame-haired star look totally classic in the column dress that had been given a racy twist with the help of the low slung sides.

Tom Ford actually directed the film that stars Amy, so it was hardly surprising that the star was donning one of his designs to the premiere. He's clearly rather multi-talented!

It's that time of year again when party season is upon us and you'll be no doubt hunting down a ball dress is no time. You might not be able to buy Amy's pick because it was custom made for her, but you can shop the designer's current line at Net-a-Porter (right).

Alternatively, why not keep it classic in a black maxi with one of the options lined up below.
