Caped crusader! Princess Mary of Denmark looks chic in black as attends a charity engagement in Copenhagen

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark managed to look chic while warding off the winter chill in Copenhagen on Friday.

The Australian-born royal was there to open a charity building the Danish capital, and was sure to wrap up as temperatures dipped to 7 degrees.

Mary, 44, had been invited to oversee the official inauguration of Mothers Help's House, a charity for which she is the official patron.

Mary, who has four children with her husband Prince Frederik, wore a stylish collarless black coat with silver embellishment and threw a cape on over the top.

She kept her makeup natural with just a slick of pink lipstick and blusher, adding a pair of diamond studs. 

Mothers Help's House is a social humanitarian organisation that supports and advises families, single mothers and pregnant women. 

The Crown Princess has been a patron of the charity since 2007.

Princess Mary was seen making a short speech as she cut the ribbon, before heading inside to meet families who benefit from the organisation. She also stopped to pose for photographs with staff.

Later today she will attend another official engagement at Copenhagen University’s annual celebration. 

Princess Mary, who married into the Danish royal family in 2004, is also a passionate advocate for healthcare and is a patron for a number of health organisations including The Danish Cancer Society and Healthcare DENMARK.
