I now declare you open! Cara Delevingne officially launches new fashion outlet on the site of the World Trade Center

A burgeoning film career has undeniably overshadowed her commitments as one of the Western world’s more prominent catwalk models.

But fashion once again took centre stage on Thursday afternoon as Cara Delevingne made an appearance in New York City.

The versatile British star, 24, was on hand to officially open a sprawling new H&M store at Westfield World Trade Center, and she was in high spirits as she cut the ribbon with the brand's North American President Daniel Kulle.

The launch was particularly poignant given its location at Westfield, a replacement for The Mall at the World Trade Center, which was based on the concourse at the World Trade Center prior to its destruction during terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Given the occasion Cara whooped and cheered as the store, the latest addition to the shopping complex, opened its doors.

Cara can be seen in forthcoming films Tulip Fever, due for release in February 2017 and Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets from next July.

Meanwhile the model recently revealed a brand new and very overt tattoo - and dropped a huge hint that her new inking is related to her break up with singer St Vincent at a Rimmel make-up launch last week.

Speaking inside the event, the 24-year-old explained that her latest skeletal snake body art inking was about the 'shedding of old skin' - seemingly hinting it was directly related to her recent split

According to The Sun, she told a camera crew: 'At the end of it it says feral because I think I am, and it's about reinvention, shedding of old skin, new beginnings, new life.'

Furry nice! Across town, Cara's ex-girlfriend St Vincent - real name Annie Clark - was enjoying a stroll through the East Village in an eye-catching multicoloured faux fur jacket

All about the accessories: St Vincent - who split with Cara in September - oozed glamour in a pair of oversized cat eye sunglasses whilst her curly locks were worn in a topknot
