Celebrity hair tribes: How stars with similar passions flock to the same salons - and end up with the same hairstyles!

For a lot of people, once someone has done a good job on their hair, the thought of letting anyone else go near it is borderline sacrilege.

However, many celebrities have placed their trust in the same people, and often it corresponds with their roles on television.

Here, the Mail looks at some of the stars who are sharing stylists, and how you can tell from their hair who is looking after who.

Vintage blondes

The Duchess of Cornwall, Joanna Lumley and Amanda Redman (pictured left to right) all have their hair done by Jo Hansford MBE

Jo is best-known for styling Camilla’s regal look

MAIN MEMBERS: The Duchess of Cornwall, actresses Joanna Lumley and Amanda Redman.

TRIBAL TRAITS: Ladies of a certain vintage favour discretion and durability in their hairstyle — and their salon, which is more than 20 years old.

Award-winning Jo Hansford MBE is a colour specialist, best known for styling Camilla’s regal look, but she has also tamed and toned the locks of many of our best-loved stage and screen stars.

Her signature bright blonde is anti-ageing, flattering and said to knock a decade off.

If sophisticated honey-blonde hair is your thing, a full head of highlights may cost £500.

Bob-loving broadcasters

The man who styled the Duchess of Cambridge for her wedding day charges £325 for a cut and blow-dry

MAIN MEMBERS: Presenters Anne Robinson, Sophie Raworth and Alice Beer.

TRIBAL TRAITS: When you want your audience to concentrate on what you are saying, not the stray hairs blowing across your face, shorter, sculpted styles work best.

If you read the news or front a serious TV programme, then the chances are you love Richard Ward’s salon, where some of the nation’s most serious faces are having their hair chopped and coaxed into signature bobs — while discussing the news that day.

24-hour glamour girls

Blake Lively, Mariah Carey and Heidi Klum all have their look done by Neil Cornelius

Neil is open all hours for his clients, claiming his salon is London's only 24-hour one

MAIN MEMBERS: Actress Blake Lively, singer Mariah Carey, models Heidi Klum and Gigi Hadid,

TRIBAL TRAITS: The always open London salon of Neil Cornelius is favoured by willowy beauties who sport low-maintenance long, tousled, ‘bronde’ (blonde-brunette) locks that are simple to curl quickly for the red carpet.

‘They love the fact no other salon in London offers a 24-hour service,’ says Neil.

Indeed, make an appointment for the ungodly hour of 3am and Mr Cornelius himself will appear, scissors in one hand, champagne bottle (or coffee mug) in the other. A cut-and-blow-dry will cost you £150, or a ‘man’ trim is ‘just’ £65.

Posh party crowd

Lily James, Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley and Alexa Chung (left to right) all go for an undone, chobby but sun-kissed look

The in-crowd is queuing up to for George Northwood's skills

MAIN MEMBERS: Models Alexa Chung, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Downton star Lily James

TRIBAL TRAITS: Fully paid-up members of the in-crowd are queuing up to have George Northwood turn their tresses into a wob — or wavy bob.

This undone, choppy, natural look is both subtle and sun-kissed. The art of George is by arrangement only, but his team are all trained in his technique and prices go up to £225 for a cut and £75 for a blow-dry.

It’s said that he’s the master of the invisible cut — keeping length but gaining the appearance of thickness with careful trimming of the underlayers — making the limpest of locks look glorious.

TV Drama princesses

Gemma Arterton, Kara Tointon and Michelle Dockery (left to right) are some of the country's brightest actresses

All three of them use Charles Worthington’s salon

MAIN MEMBERS: Actresses Michelle Dockery, Kara Tointon and Gemma Arterton.

TRIBAL TRAITS: Dark-haired and doe-eyed, these young actresses sport a versatile look that could see them cast in a period drama, or as a Bond Girl without having to change their hair too much, thanks to Charles Worthington’s salon.

The award-winning business celebrates its 30-year anniversary this year.

The principal stylist, Matthew Soobroy, charges from £120 (Worthington is more management now), but it costs from just £45 for a cut. Worthington’s range of shampoos and conditioners are in pharmacies nationwide.

Take-me-seriously sister

Emilia Fox, J.K. Rowling and Charlize Theron are all left-leaning stars need their crowning glories to look glossy with a hint of unkempt intellectualism

Errol Douglas has an MBE and a cut and blow-dry costs £300

MAIN MEMBERS: Author J.K. Rowling, and actresses Emilia Fox and Charlize Theron.

TRIBAL TRAITS: These Left-leaning stars need their crowning glories to look glossy with a hint of unkempt intellectualism — no WAG highlights here. The shoulder-length ’dos are usually curly so it looks that not too much effort has been put in.

At Errol Douglas’s Knightsbridge salon, they can have a very subtle type of blonde highlights done while they rub shoulders (or foils) with women who not only look like them but think like them, too.

Douglas has an MBE and a cut and blow-dry from the great man himself will set you back £300.

A-list bombshells

Cate Blanchett, Sharon Stone and Rosamund Pike are all blonde, statuesque and at the top of their game - and the proof is in their hair

Their locks are done by the ever-youthful Nicky Clarke

MAIN MEMBERS: A-List film stars Cate Blanchett, Sharon Stone, Elizabeth Debicki and Rosamund Pike

TRIBAL TRAITS: Blonde, statuesque and at the top of their game, these A-Listers are proof that less is more — at least when it comes to hair.

With excellent bone structure and the confidence to carry a more exposing look, these ladies have their short, sassy and seriously blonde locks teased into shape by the ever-youthful Nicky Clarke.

His own bouffant look may be more Lion King than elfin chic, but he knows how to flatter the female form. Celebrity clients are likely to be stunning blondes, and his fees are said to be £500 a cut.
