Meghan Markle has been posting far less frequently on social media since it was revealed she had started a romantic relationship with Prince Harry

But the American TV star broke her social media silence today to post an inspirational quote on Instagram thanking her 'supportive' friends.

Alongside the photo Markle wrote: 'A favorite from @thetigofficial! 

'Sending some extra love today to Emily, Sol, Domi, Hannah, Sih, Doris, JessyScarlett and all of you who have been so supportive for years. I've missed you guys.'

The Tig is a lifestyle blog launched by Markle in 2014 and comparable to Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop site.

Markle was a regular poster on Instagram and Twitter before news of her relationship broke, sharing pictures, quotes and interacting with friends at least several times a day. 

However in the last week she has only posted three times on the photo sharing site.  

In an unprecedented public statement earlier this month, Prince Harry criticised the coverage their relationship was receiving.   

The glamorous American actress has become the centre of attention on both sides of the Atlantic since the prince announced their relationship.
