Ahoy, mateys! Josh Duhamel and son Axl brandish cartoon-style pirate swords in Beverly Hills

He plays a no-nonsense soldier in the Transformers franchise.

But on Friday it looked as though Josh Duhamel was about to take on a more nautical role as he stepped out for breakfast with son Axl, aged three.

The 44-year-old and his son toted some pirate-inspired cartoon swords as they navigated a sidewalk in Beverly Hills.

Josh kept his look very casual for the outing, opting for a grey t-shirt, black sport shorts and flip flops.

As it is currently the NFL season, it was no surprise that he was wearing his Minnesota Vikings hat, which is the team located closest to his native North Dakota.

Son Axl's outfit was slightly more enigmatic.

His t-shirt was adorned with a cartoon picture of what looked to be a badger, while his pants featured a distinctive black and white circle pattern.

Some miniature, black Yeezy trainers rounded out his eclectic outfit.

While the outing did include breakfast, it also appeared the duo planned to embark on some pillaging, as Josh carried multiple pirate swords emblazoned with the Jolly Rodger, while Axl held his own.

Meanwhile, last week Josh's wife Fergie, 41, released her latest single, Life Goes On.

The hit-maker was also spotted filming a very sexy music video on the beach in Malibu that same day.

Fergie has been married to actor Josh since January 2009.
