'Those dudes get all the attention!' Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham on how she fell for Peter Krause... despite being 'wary' of his good looks

Falling for a handsome co-star is surely one of Hollywood's biggest cliches.

But for some, true love really does blossom on set. And Lauren Graham has opened up about how she met the man of her dreams, Peter Krause - despite her misgivings about his 'type'.

'Those dudes get all the attention you think they do, and then some,' she said of 'attractive, straight, successful actors' in Hollywood.

'Those dudes get all the attention!' Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham writes in her new book about how she fell for Peter Krause... despite being 'wary' of his good looks

Talking to People magazine to promote her new book Talking As Fast As I Can, Lauren explains that she had some concerns when she first fell for her Parenthood co-star.

The two played siblings on the comedy series, but it was as lovers that they bonded.

'At our age we’d probably both been through showmances that went south and made work an uncomfortable place to be,' she writes in an excerpt from her book. 'But ultimately, our mutual wariness gave way — it just sort of happened.'

'Just sort of happened': The pair are seen back in May; they live together in Los Angeles

And the 49-year-old told People of Peter, 51: 'He’s really my favorite person to talk to. And he always makes me laugh. He’s really, really funny.'

The pair are now happily co-habiting in Los Angeles.

Lauren also shared the tale of how she first met her boyfriend, when they presented together at the SAG Awards 14 years ago.

On set: The couple play brother and sister in the NBC show Parenthood

'Just as our names were being announced he turned to me and said calmly 'want to hold hands?'

'It was such an odd, old-fashioned, unexpected question.'

She writes that she said yes, but it was to be years before the pair met again.

New book: Lauren, who returns to screens in Gilmore Girls:  A Year In The Life on Netflix this Thanksgiving, has written a book about her time on the show
