A taxi driver smashed into a group of pedestrians sending them flying to the ground but first inspected his car before turning his attention to those he injured.

Mr Lau, 71, lost control of his car and ploughed into pedestrians on the pavement at Sogo shopping centre in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.

He struck seven people including a six-year-old child and an 89-year-old pensioner.

Instead of rushing out of his car to check on them, he stayed at the wheel of the stationary taxi for at least ten seconds.

He then got out and ambled all the way around his car to check the door on the passenger side for damage.

He bent down to inspect the damage, totally ignoring the pile of bodies on the pavement.

Outraged bystanders pointed and shouted at him for his callous actions and only then did he approach the men and women he had injured.

He then got out of his car and walked all the way around to the passenger side

He checked for damage before even looking at the pedestrians he had ploughed into

Seven people were hurt in the crash but all fully recovered in hospital.

Nobody suffered any serious injuries but Lau was arrested for dangerous driving.

He claimed he swerved off the road to avoid a pedestrian who ran infront of him.

Police are still investigating but have ruled out drink driving.

Bystanders were furious with him and he was arrested for dangerous driving
