'This magical human!' Ashlee Simpson wishes son Bronx a happy eighth birthday with heartwarming lemonade stand Instagram post

Whilst a gaggle of her fellow musicians descended on the American Music Awards, Sunday was a different sort of special day for Ashlee Simpson.

The 32-year-old closed out her weekend by celebrating the eighth birthday of her firstborn child, a son called Bronx.

She uploaded a sweet Instagram photo of herself and her new eight-year-old standing in front of a small lemonade stand.

'You are everything and more than I could have ever dreamed of!!': On Sunday, Ashlee Simpson posted a cute Instagram photo of herself with her firstborn child, a son called Bronx, in order to celebrate his 8th birthday

The Pieces Of Me singer was wearing an Oxford blue cap with straps running down the side of her face, squatting to be at eye level with her son.

Tight midnight blue jeans emphasised her toned legs, and she held her hands open and upward, as though she were explaining something.

Little Bronx, meanwhile, had been zipped into a hoodie with a skeleton's torso painted on its front, his mouth open as he seemed to be talking to his mother. Bubbles floated in front of the two of them.

Her caption gushed: '8 years ago today I had this magical human. You are everything and more than I could have ever dreamed of!! Happy Birthday Bronx.'

The way we were: Her son is the product of the 32-year-old's three-year marriage to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz

Bronx was born about six months after his mother celebrated her wedding to his father, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz.

Mr and Mrs Wentz managed to keep their marriage afloat for three years, ultimately finalising their divorce in 2011.

In 2014, the Waco native remarried, alighting on Diana Ross' son Evan Ross. Simpson and her new husband have now got a one-year-old daughter called Jagger.

Last October, she'd given an interview to AOL and opened up about how Bronx adjusted to having a new little sister.

Per the Bat For A Heart singer: 'He's awesome, and he's such a good brother. He's like a professional big brother, and he's got it down: He can calm her down and tell her it's ok, entertain her, and dance with her. He's a really good big brother.'

On the distinction between raising him and his new sibling, she'd mused that 'maybe my age makes it a little different and, now having Bronx around, I have kind of a team. It's nice.'
