Strictly Come Dancing star Ore Oduba is joined by stunning wife Portia as couple attend awards show... after celebrating their first wedding anniversary

He’s a clear favourite to win the current series of Strictly Come Dancing, but the silky ballroom moves that have helped Ore Oduba edge ever closer to the final were kept in the locker as he stepped out in London.

On a night that saw Olympian Greg Rutherford become the ninth celebrity to be eliminated from the hit show, Ore was in attendance at the Roundhouse as the Camden venue played host to the British Academy Children’s Awards.

The presenter, 30, looked dapper in a smart blue tuxedo jacket and black trousers as he made an entrance alongside his glamorous wife, Portia.

Evidently in high spirits, Ore treated onlookers to a small taste of his new found skills by striking a dancer’s pose while making his way inside.

The former Newsround presenter has cause to be in a jubilant mood after celebrating his first wedding anniversary with Portia.

The pair celebrated their wedding with a lavish reception at Penshurst Place in Kent, and Ore recently admitted he knew his stunning wife was the one from the first moment he saw her.

'From the first two months, we talked about wanting children,' he told Hello. 'The way we are with each other hasn't dipped or changed. I know it will always be fine when Portia is here.'

Ore was also quick to praise his Strictly mentor and dance partner Joanne Clifton, insisting he would never have progressed within the competition were it not for her guidance.

'Me and dance had no idea what we could do together until Jo intervened. It’s bloomed out of Jo,' he explained during an appearance on ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain.

Joanne, 33, added that she always hoped she'd get to dance with Ore after she witnessed the star showing off his moves in the group rehearsals.

'I saw him the first time we met all the celebs together,' she said. 'I saw him out of the corner of my eye and thought I think I want to dance with him.'

Ore was making his appearance on Good Morning Britain as he celebrated his milestone 30th birthday, but he admitted his special day was tinged with sadness.

'This is the first birthday I’ve not spent with my wife ever,' he sighed.
