And Natalie Dormer looked worlds apart from her former alter-ego when she joined A-list actor and director Mel Gibson to film scenes for The Professor And The Madman in Dublin, Ireland over the weekend.

The 34-year-old actress was clad in 19th century period costume as she made her way onto the set, while Hollywood star Mel, 60, got to work in a top hat.

Meanwhile, Mel - who acquired the film rights almost two decades ago - appeared animated as he continued work on the drama about the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary, a pet project of his.

Sean Penn stars as William Chester Minor, a former US army surgeon who contributes more than 10,000 entries to the Oxford English Dictionary while being held at an asylum for the criminally insane.

Minor, who passed away in 1920, became a devoted contributor after answering a call for volunteers from Scottish lexicographer Sir James Murray - the dictionary's primary editor (Gibson).
