And it seems that Adam Thomas is set to have a similar experience in Monday night's Bushtucker trial, The Food Factory, as he's rendered speechless by the task at hand.

Tasked with collecting stars hidden in the ram-shackle building, the 28-year-old actor was only able to screech and yelp as he attempted to wade through a selection of critters.

In a preview from the the latest installment of the reality survival series, the Emmerdale star looked visibly nervous as he entered the hut.

Retching from the smell of rotting vegetables and stagnant swamp water in a tub - where a food star was concealed - the actor was left gasping and gagging.

Making a series of strange sounds as he begins searching through the scummy water, hosts Ant and Dec are left giggling in delight as Adam tries his best to locate his first star.

After managing to bag one star he heads over to a small run where a horde of rats are corralled, hiding another precious food token.

Screeching as he lays eyes on the rodents, Adam begins flipping and pushing the rodents around the box as he shouts 'come-by' - something which seems to amuse the Geordie presenters.

Though it seems the shepherding tactic works as the Northern actor manages to bag a second star.

Told that there's one star left in the first room of the factory, Adam then walks over to a box placed conspicuously in the corner of the room.

But as the star opens the box a number of spiders - something he is terrified by - came zooming out into the room.

Recoiling in horror and screeching at the sight of the arachnids, he runs backwards where he jumps up and down.

Cutting to the giggling duo, the clip ends with Ant and Dec doubling over in laughter - something the audience at home may well be doing.

But the spider's are only the tip of the ice-berg, as Adam will then have to crawl through a tunnel filled with lard to another room, where even more terrifying and stomach-churning challenges await him.

Despite his clearly squeamish nature and phobia of scuttling insects, it seems Adam's hysteric reactions have only served to make the public pick-up the phone and vote for him to undergo the trial.

Even his friends and family couldn't resist, with his twin brother Scott and Emmerdale co-star Danny Miller both egging the public on to vote for him.
