She famously played the vivacious yet deadly Pola Ivanova opposite Roger Moore's James Bond, in a View To A Kill.

Talking to the Daily Express, the former Bond Girl explained she felt that working whilst also raising children diluted and weakened the bond between mother and child.

'You can still carry on a career as an actress if you do have children but it means you are not a very good mum because you are never there,' Fiona opined.

Speaking about her own experience in the industry, having shot to fame as a Bond Girl and then taken on a succession of roles in TV, the actress decided to give up her career in favour of being a full-time mother.

Explaining her decision to 'move out of the business', the actress said that in 1995 she felt it was best for her to spend time at home with her daughter, Lucy.

Expanding on the theme, Fiona said that she felt it was the best thing to do for her daughter, as well as her step-son, James, who had just lost his mother.

'I had to make a decision: either I wanted to be a full-time mum or be a full-time actress,' she said. ' And I decided I wanted to be with my kids and I have two well-adjusted, beautiful children so I am very, very pleased because I definitely made the right decision.'

In 2013 she starred in both Masterchef and Strictly Come Dancing, on which she was partnered with fan-favourite, Anton du Beke - with whom she reached the vaunted Blackpool week.

Fiona has Lucy, 21, with her second husband Neil Shackell, and she is step-mother to his son, James, 27.

Following her career as an actress Fiona went on to establish a property business.
