It had just emerged their beloved brother-in-law Kanye West had been hospitalised after suddenly cancelling the rest of his tour.

But that did not stop Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian from wearing wide smiles as they stoically walked the red carpet at the Angel Ball in New York on Monday.

The pair were literally grinning and bearing it as they attended the star-studded studded charity event in contrasting, yet similarly racy, outfits.

Perhaps they felt obliged to attend as their late father Robert Kardashian, who worked on OJ Simpson's defence team during his infamous murder trial in 1994, was being honoured at the event.

Mother-of-three Kourtney was looking resplendent in a black dress which gave a generous view of her cleavage.

It also featured a cutaway skirt that displayed the 37-year-old's toned thighs and also gave a teasing glimpse of her seeming lack of panties when viewed from the side, though arguably enough was hidden to keep it classy.

Kourntey and Khloe Kardashian arrived in style at the Angel Ball in New York this week. The family might have a lot goign on right now, but the ladies made sure to show their faces at the event where their father Robert was being honoured.

The sisters oozed their usual glamorous vibes whilst of course looking super sexy. Khloe chose a sparkly sheer number by Yousef al Jasmi and Kourtney stuck to a trusty Olivier Rousteing piece. Balmain is one of the family's regular go-to designers, which of course is no doubt helped by their friendship with Olivier.

While this exact ensemble wasn't shown on the resort 2017 runway, this skirt with its ruffled design and cut out sides was in a different colourway.

The ladies' father Robert Kardashian, who died of esophageal cancer in 2003, was being honored at the Angel Ball, which was held at the Wall Street branch of upscale restaurant Cipriani.

The annual event raises money for the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research.

The foundation was set up by Grammy-nominated songwriter and philanthropist, Denise Rich in 1996 after her 27-year-old daughter Gabrielle lost her battle with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

Along with Gabrielle's sisters Daniella and Ilona, Denise has created in her memory, Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, that funds the best scientific investigators in the US with the hope that less toxic treatments, and ultimately a cure, might be discovered.

Kim Kardashian had been slated to make her first appearance on the red carpet since her ordeal in Paris, where she was allegedly robbed at gunpoint in June.

However she pulled out of the engagement following her husband Kanye's hospitalisation.

Their mother Kris Jenner, 61, did attend, as well as a pantheon of celebrities, among them former Real Housewives Of New York superstar Jill Zarin.

Kanye was under observation at a hospital in Los Angeles on Monday night following his abrupt cancellation of the remaining dates of his national tour.

Friends told DailyMail.com the 'breakdown' was triggered by problems in his marriage to Kim Kardashian, paranoia over his rift with Jay Z and his seething jealousy of Beyoncé.

Law enforcement sources say that Los Angeles police had responded to a medical welfare call about 1:20pm local time.

He was allegedly being checked for 'severe sleep deprivation' when it was decided he needed to be admitted. Law enforcement sources confirmed he was hospitalized for his own health and safety.

Earlier in the day his concert promoter Live Nation announced the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo Tour had been called off, but failed to give a reason.

It came Kanye after criticised Beyoncé and Jay Z, and also gave his personal endorsement to President-elect Donald Trump.
