'It saved me as a kid': Emma Stone says acting helped her overcome anxiety as she joins The Hollywood Reporter's Actress Roundtable

The women have spoken.

The Hollywood Reporter brought together seven women for their annual actress roundtable to talk about a variety of topics, including stage fright, their future goals and their careers.

Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, Taraji P. Henson and Amy Adams were joined by Annette Bening, Naomie Harris and Isabelle Huppert for the candid discussion.

Emma Stone, who stars in the upcoming film La La Land, divulged that 'comedy saved me as a kid.'

The 28-year-old actress recalled that as a child, she was 'tense,' 'anxious,' and 'so in my head.'

Adding that 'Comedy really changed everything.'

Stone explained that movies like The Jerk with Steve Martin and Planes, Trains & Automobiles with John Candy 'really opened up the world to me.'

Amy Adams revealed she has 'paralyzing' stage fright.

While she said she used to have it in front of cameras, she's 'figured that out, thankfully.'

The 42-year-old Nocturnal Animals actress said she didn't realize how bad her stage fright was until she did scenes for Into The Woods in Central Park.

'There would be times where I literally thought I wouldn't be able to walk onstage,' Adams said. 

She recalled that 'the worst stage fright I ever had was singing alone at the Oscars.'

Adams belted a song from her hit film Enchanted during the 2008 Oscars. 

Henson, who sang a tune from her film Hustle & Flow with Three 6 Mafia during the 2006 Oscars, agreed, calling her experience 'very scary.'

The Empire actress quipped: 'At least you didn't have to sing about pimps and whores,' referring to the theme song 'It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp' that she sang at the awards show 10 years ago.

When Adams commended her for her performance, Henson said she 'had to look over everyone's heads because it's not like what I'm singing about is the most...you know.'

Natalie Portman, who is expecting her second child with husband Benjamin Millepied, wants to focus on making changes in local communities and to 'push female leadership.'

She emphasized that 'we need to teach girls to bosses now. Now. Like yesterday.'

French actress Isabelle Huppert, 63, wants 'to be invisible.'

Stone wants to have a family; 'It makes me honestly flush, because it feels like such a vulnerable thing to say. It's such a crazy, incredible thing. How wild to have children and a family, it's just...very much.'

Henson said she wishes she had 'wings' and that she 'could fly,' adding that she has wings tattooed on her lower back.

Rules Don't Apply star Annette Bening hopes to do scuba diving; the 58-year-old actress noted that it could be at the Great Barrier reef or Mexico.

Switching gears, Huppert talked about her rape scenes in her film Elle; she said they had a coach to help her with falling down and 'things like this.'

Regarding pay equality and minorities, Adams said that 'who you should be asking is the Producer Roundtable.'

Adding that 'We are always put on the chopping block to put our opinion out there, and that question is never asked.' 

Adams continued: 'I'm like "Why don't you ask them and then have their statements to be the headlines in the press?" I don't want to be a headline anymore about pay equality.'
