Their long-awaited return to televised motoring madness, The Grand Tour, debuted on Friday to much acclaim.

And it seems that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were in the mood to celebrate their success, as the trio headed out into London that night.

Accompanied by a selection of family and friends, the former Top Gear trio appeared to be in high spirits as they enjoyed an evening at the Curzon cinema in Soho.

Stood outside the movie theater's entrance, the three presenters laughed and chatted away - presumably till on a high after the show received plaudits from both the public and critics.

Jeremy, 56, looked to be enjoying the grand night out with his two friends and co-stars.

The journalist and presenter, who is earning a reported £10million per series on the streaming service, opted for his trademark jeans and jacket look.

Sporting a green jacket, white shirt and jeans, Jeremy was instantly recognisable as he held court outside the cinema's luxurious bar area.

Richard, 46, was dressed in a similar smart but casual manner and sported a navy blazer which he teamed with a white open-neck shirt, jeans and a pair of trainers.

Accompanied by his wife Amanda and daughter, Willow, 13, on the celebratory outing to the cinema, the former radio DJ - also known to fans by his nickname, Hamster - also appeared to be on fine form.

James, 56, was instantly recognisable in the crowd thanks to his long floppy locks and a jazzy floral shirt.

The presenter - nicknamed Captain Slow by his colleagues - was out at the bash with his partner, Sarah Frater.

While Jeremy and James both puffed away on cigarettes as the group prepared to depart the cinema, Richard was all smiles as he joked around with his daughter and a group of youngsters.

Slick Rich: The presenter was well turned out for the night, and sported clipped and groomed facial hair as well as a perfectly styled 'messy do' 

Clearly having enjoyed a rip-roaring evening out in the capital, the trio were in no rush to call an end to the night as they milled about chatting and laughing.

As the group dispersed Richard and his family headed down the road to catch a black cab, though it appeared that his family had to cajole the effervescent presenter into making a move.

James and Sarah left a short while later, though the journalist - who is also a classically trained musician - stopped to take a picture with some fans first.

The group celebration came hours after The Grand Tour went live on Amazon's streaming service. 

The programme, billed by many as a 'bigger,better' version of Top Gear received rave reviews from critics.

The MailOnline's Jim Shelley summed up the show in his review, writing: 'It’s a shame they had to leave the BBC, but judging by episode one of The Grand Tour perhaps that was what they needed.

'After all that time away it was good to see them back – not necessarily where they belonged but bigger, better, and more badly behaved than ever.

'The Grand Tour could be "the best Top Gear yet".'

Sam Wollaton wrote for The Guardian: 'With their supercars, celebrity slayings and Eboladrome, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond prove they can still make a spectacle – and keep the petrolheads happy.'

While The Independent's Jack Shepherd wrote: 'The trio’s chemistry remains as brilliant as ever, the toys just cost a lot more.'

The Telegraph's Ed Power highlighted what many have been opining since the trio left the BBC, writing: 'The BBC will wonder if they did the right thing in letting their most lucrative talent walk out the door and into Amazon’s welcoming embrace.'

Jeremy was involved in a fracas with Oisin Tymon in 2015 in a row over a lack of hot food, which ultimately resulted in the BBC not renewing his contract.

He is said to have flown into a rage after being told he could not order steak after a day of filming, calling Mr Tymon a ‘lazy, Irish c***’ during the confrontation - he officially apologised to Mr Tymon earlier this year. 

Both James and Richard left the BBC soon after Jeremy's exit, and the three were then snapped up by Amazon who have reportedly pledged £160 million for 12 shows a year over three years.
