Glamorous Lizzy Caplan makes political statement as she writes 'Love Trumps Hate' on her palm at Allied premiere in London

She made her fame in Mean Girls, and is now starring alongside Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard in a new war flick.

However Lizzy Caplan turned the attention from her acting to something more political on Monday night, as she hit the red carpet for the London premiere of Allied.

The actress, 34, arrived at the Odeon in Leicester Square in a pretty polka dot and lace dress - but it was her hand, emblazoned with the message 'Love Trumps Hate' that stole the show.

Standing out: Lizzy Caplan, 34, made a political statement by writing 'Love Trumps Hate' on her hand for the London premiere of her new film Allied on Monday

I'm with her: She arrived at the Odeon in Leicester Square in a pretty polka dot dress - but it was her hand, emblazoned with the message supportive of Hilary Clinton, that stole the show

The Cloverfield actress arrived at the star-studded event in what first seemed a classically glamorous outfit, formed of a 1950s-inspired black dress.

The outfit was of a fit and flare style, cinching in at her petite waist before flowing out in a soft A-line skirt, patterned with red and white polka dots all over.

Making the look modern, the frock then featured a semi-sheer lace section at the top, which gave a sexy but subtle glimpse of her smooth skin underneath.

Where I stand: The chic look was completely overshadowed by the 'Love Trumps Hate' written on her hand - one of the phrases included in Hilary Clinton's final speech of her campaign

Maintaining the vibe of old-school glamour throughout, she then teamed her ensemble with a pair of burgundy suede mid-heels and a slick of scarlet lipstick.

Yet, even with the finishing touches of a bouncy, curled bob and dewy, glowing make-up, the chic look was completely overshadowed by the small written message on the palm of her hand - which read 'Love Trumps Hate'.

The actress was not shy to display the political statement to the cameras as she held up and pointed to her hand continually - openly indicating where her loyalties lie in light of America's recent election.

Taking a stand: The actress was not shy to display the political statement to the cameras as she held up and pointed to her hand continually

The phrase first featured in Hilary Clinton's final speech during the Presidential campaign.

Urging Americans to make the right choice in the election, which took place earlier this month, the politician had said: 'When your kids or grandkids ask what you did in 2016, you'll be able to say you voted for a stronger, fairer, better America.

'An America where we build bridges, not walls. Where we prove, conclusively, that yes: Love trumps hate.'

Otherwise glamorous: The dress was of a fit and flare style, cinching in at her petite waist before flowing out in a soft A-line skirt, patterned with red and white polka dots all over

However after her defeat in the election to Donald Trump, the phrase has since become a mantra for those who remain staunch supporters of Clinton - thanks to the play on words the comment has with her rival's name.

Many celebrities have been seen out since controversial Trump was named President with the motto emblazoned on their bodies and clothing - including singer Lady Gaga.

This is not the first time Lizzy had publicly addressed her support for big issues such as women, equality and feminism.

Vintage vibes: Maintaining the vibe of old-school glamour, she added burgundy mid-heels and scarlet lipstick as she posed with co-stars Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard

The actress penned an essay for Cosmopolitan last year, which detailed her views on what it is to be a girl in society, and why women should be equal.

She writes in the thought-provoking piece: 'I still want all the same opportunities that are afforded to the boys. I want to be paid as much as the boys. I want to vote for a presidential candidate who shares my gender.'

She continued to explain that she wants to live in a world where being a girl sees no limit to education, opportunity or success - before concluding her inspiring note with: 'I don’t want to be a boy, but I sure as hell want to be equal to them. Perhaps that’s what I’ve been striving for all along.'

Back to her best: The actress stars in the new blockbuster Allied as Bridget Vatan - a relative of the lead character (Pitt)

Loved-up: Her fiancé Tom Riley accompanied her to the event - with the pair getting engaged after an 18-month romance in May of this year

However after making her statement at the high-profile, Lizzy then put her hand down and posed casually alongside her fellow cast and fiancé Tom Riley.

The Mean Girls star and her English actor beau met in London in January 2015 when Lizzie was working on a project in England.

However, it was not until a year later at the 2016 Prague Opera Ball that they confirmed their love with their first red carpet appearance together.

Hitting the heights: Lizzy worked with some of Hollywood's elite for the film, directed by Robert Zemeckis, after rising to fame in cult chick flick Mean Girls

E! News then announced the pair had become engaged in July this year - with the website reporting that Tom got down on one knee in New York in May.

The hunky Englishman looked more than supportive of his wife-to-be as he posed by her side at the celebration of her new blockbuster Allied, in which she plays Bridget Vatan, a relative of the lead character.

Starring Hollywood greats Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, the film follows Canadian intelligence officer Max Vatan and his marriage to French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour - who is accused of being a spy for the Germans.
