She’s looking ahead to a well-earned three month break after closing the North American leg of her current world tour in Phoenix on Monday evening.

But Adele’s brief hiatus from the stage may well be put to good use after the singer surprised fans by revealing plans to expand her family.

Closing her final US show at a sold-out Talking Stick Resort Arena, the pop superstar, 28, bid farewell to her audience by announcing she was 'off to have a baby.'

'Give it up for me – I did it!' she yelled as ticker tape rained down from the rafters. 'I’ll see you on the other side. I’m going to have another baby!’

The London based singer, already a parent to son Angelo, four, with partner Simon Konecki, later celebrated her imminent break by raising a celebratory glass of champagne onstage with her backing band.

'I'm not going to have any because I've got my glorious white wine and I can't drink it because it wreaks havoc with my acid reflux,' she joked.

Following the gig Adele shared a cute snap of a welcome home banner made by Angelo in anticipation of her return to the UK.

The image, shared with 21.3million followers, showed a hallway lit by a lamp and a huge home-made sign, decorated with painted hearts, spots and handprints.

Clearly overwhelmed by the prospect of spending some quality time at home before the final leg of the Adele Live tour in Australia and New Zealand, the singer captioned the image with a touching message.

'You lot have been incredible, every night you've been so beautiful, loving and engaged.

My band and my crew you made the whole thing turn, And my beautiful family made it easy for me to do. Big love x.'

The Hello singer will enjoy a break from the road till late February, which is when she will set out to finish the tour with a handful of dates in Australia and neighboring New Zealand, where the tour will officially end with a show at Auckland's Mount Smart Stadium.

As of yet she has not revealed any plans to perform live for the foreseeable future.

According to The Sun, the Rolling In The Deep singer has made the decision in light of the fact her son with Konecki will start school next year and will be unable to join her on the road - but she is said to be considering a Las Vegas residency.

A source told the newspaper: 'Angelo is the number one priority for Adele. He is the most important thing in her life.
