'Mental illness isn't anything to mess with': Kanye West fans react to his shocking hospitalization as #PrayForKanye trends on Twitter

Fans of rapper Kanye West have tagged social media posts with the hashtag #PrayForKanye amid the rap star entering a Los Angeles medical facility Monday for what a friend told DailyMail.com was linked to 'psychotic' behavior.

Hundreds of messages of sympathy and well-wishes poured in on Twitter with the hashtag as the news spread of Kanye's health setback, with many people saying the Hold My Liquor singer has had a personal influence on their lives through his art.

'Kanye being hospitalized really ruined my day. Dude's music and interviews have influenced me more than anything,' @SimplyPutzke wrote, while @AverageSamson wrote, 'Kanye's music changed my life and I look up to him and his ambition. Mental illness isn't anything to mess with. Get well soon.'

One user, @WigSlayer, noted how the rapper's recent rash of erratic behavior comes in the wake of the nine-year anniversary of the death of his mother, Donda, who died November 10, 2007 in Marina Del Rey, California amid a plastic surgery procedure.

People fight depression in different ways,' @WigSlayer tweeted, adding 'it's the holidays. Kanye's mommy passed in November. He blames himself for his mother untimely death.' (Last year, West told Q Magazine, 'If I had never moved to L.A., she'd be alive. I don't want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears.')

Some took an optimistic tack, as @fridayfixmusic wrote, 'Aye @kanyewest is still the man in my book. He'll get through this and come out brighter. He's done it before.

User @shelbi_palsrok kept it simple, writing, 'I just honestly hope Kanye gets better.'

The Paranoid rapper, 39, was taken by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center after police told TMZ that authorities responded to a welfare check on West around 1:20 p.m. PST Monday. Paramedics eventually transported the Through The Wire singer to the facility in an ambulance.

West was already being checked out for issues linked to sleep deprivation, insiders close to the Gold Digger singer told the outlet, noting that the attending physician made the call to admit him into the hospital. West didn't cooperate with paramedics and had to be physically restrained for the ambulance ride, police told the outlet.

The Grammy-winning star was already all over the headlines on Monday after the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo Tour were called off in the wake of a strange Saturday show at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center in which the rapper cut things abruptly short, leading organizers to issue refunds. Prior to that, he had gone on an extended rant with unlikely targets such as Hillary Clinton, Jay Z and Beyonce.

Just days before, the Famous rapper - who once said 'George Bush doesn't care about black people' - told concertgoers at San Jose, California's SAP Center that while he didn't vote, 'would have voted for' Donald Trump.

The Bound 2 rapper's wife Kim Kardashian - who has been keeping a low profile less than two months after she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris October 3 - abruptly left New York City in the wake of the news, according to TMZ.
