'Actually I prefer Batman': Spider-Man Tom Holland laughs off criticism from a young fan as he joins Zendaya to visit children’s hospital

He already has an army of fans, with even Robert Downey Jnr singing his praises. 

But Spider-Man Tom Holland took it in his stride when a young hospital patient was his toughest critic to date.

The 20-year-old actor was joined by co-star Zendaya, at the NY Presbyterian Children's Hospital on Tuesday, as one young patient told him that he preferred Batman.

Tom was seen in an Instagram video dressing up in his costume and going to meet the young patients. 

'Hey buddy. I'm Spider-Man, nice to meet you,' the actor introduced himself to a young boy who was sat next to his hospital bed and introduced himself as Nicholas. 

'Do you like Batman better than Spider Man?' Tom asked.

Nicholas nodded and was the ultimate critic when he defended his assessment with the words: 'Poo poo'. 

The star - who is the son of British comic Dominic Holland - graciously laughed off the brutal review.

Zendaya was seen in the clip, blurred and laughing at the start, as Tom completed putting on his outfit with his head mask.  

The former Disney star also shared the video, captioned: 'I think we have worlds best real life Spider-Man....an absolutely beautiful day at @nyphospital with two of my favorite people @tomholland2013 @lifeisaloha @lollipoptheater #PooPoo'

She recently denied persistent rumours that she will be playing Mary-Jane.

Tom was debuted on the big screen as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year. 

He takes the titular role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is scheduled to be released on July 7, 2017 in the United States in 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D.
