'It all coincided': Nicole Kidman reflects on going through her divorce with Tom Cruise and being 'catapulted into huge fame' with the releases of Moulin Rouge all at the same time
She was one half of Hollywood's most famous couple for 11 years, before a very public split in 2001.
But just as Nicole Kidman was divorcing Tom Cruise, her career was kicking up a notch with the release of Moulin Rouge.
While the actress admits it was difficult at the time, reflecting now in an interview with People Entertainment Network (PEN), the 49-year-old admits she's glad she 'pushed through'.

'It all coincided': Nicole Kidman has spoken about being catapulted into huge fame in her career at a time when she was going through a high-profile divorce with Tom Cruise
'I was catapulted into huge fame - it all sort of coincided in the sense of that, it was a lot. It was a lot,' the Australia actress told editor, Jess Cagle.
While Jess suggested an actress of her standing could simply have opted out of the press commitments at the time, Nicole laughed off the suggestion.
'Sort of, but not with Baz!' she laughed, before adding: 'We'd put a lot into it, so there wasn't really, there wasn't a choice there'.
'But I'm so glad I did and at the same time pushing through that stuff - one, it was a great thing to do because [as] people who have gone through things a lot of the time will tell you "just day by day" and you push through it.'
'And thank God for Baz and all of Fox actually - everyone was just so good to me and was just like "come-on, off we go, onward" and it's a great life lesson - onward!'
'It was a lot': The actress admitted she struggled to deal with it all at that point in her life but is glad she continued with all of her commitments as it helped her through
'We'd put a lot into it': The actress laughed at the thought of not promoting the film at the time, saying 'there wasn't really a choice there' after she and director Baz Luhrmann had put in so much work
'Thank God for Baz!' Nicole credits the director for helping her through the difficult time by helping her move forwards
At the Women in the World summit last October in London, Nicole also spoke about the effect her divorce had on her career.
'Out of my divorce came work that was applauded so that was an interesting thing for me,'
Talking about the plaudits she received for pouring her energy into professional endeavours, she said: 'I was running from my life at that time, I wasn’t able to handle the reality of it and as an actor you have this wonderful thing where you can go and get lost in somebody else’s life.

However, it also came with its obvious disadvantages and Nicole was left feeling the 'loneliest she'd ever been' after winning an Oscar.
'[The divorce] culminated in winning an Oscar and that caused an epiphany which was, "This isn’t the answer".
'I was holding a gold statue and I was the loneliest I’d ever been,' she noted.
'The loneliest I’d ever been': The actress explained she found it odd to end up with an Oscar for pouring herself into her work and that it was the loneliest time of her life despite the accolades
Since then, Nicole has gone on to find love with Australian-born country music star Keith Urban.
Now, the couple have two daughters together and live in Nashville, Tennessee.
The pair, despite persistent split rumours over the years, recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary in July.
Happy: Nicole has gone on to find love with Australian-born country music star Keith Urban and the couple celebrated their ten year anniversary in July
