User accounts and renewing books online

A wealth of resources are available from the Libraries Gateway and the University Library. Aside from giving access to online catalogues, the former link also allows you to check your library account online. In order to log into your library account you will need to enter your surname and the 5-digit barcode (beginning with a V) that appears on the back of your university card. Once logged in, you can see all the books that you currently have from different libraries in the university, and you can renew your books online.

Ejournals

Ejournals are journals which can be accessed electronically. The University subscribes to a huge number of ejournals, all searchable via LibrarySearch, or the ejournals portal. Ejournals can be searched for by title and subject.

To access ejournals, users must authenticate their status as University members. In most cases, you won’t need authentication if you’re working on campus; however, if you’re trying to access electronic resources while away from the university (e.g. at home during the vactation), you will need your Raven user ID and password.

Ebooks

An ebook is a searchable, full-text electronic version of a print book. You can use an ebook for quick reference, to read a chapter or the whole book.  The  University’s ebooks@cambridge initiative provides access to thousands of texts, selected from reading lists, most-borrowed books lists and recommendations from librarians, staff and students.

Ebooks can be found through LibrarySearch and accessed with a Raven user-id and password. An RSS feed of new ebooks is also available.
