Catering and Bar

Meals

During the refurbishment of Leckhampton House, which may continue until the end of the academic year 2015/16, postgraduate students can use the catering facilities on the College’s central site on Trumpington Street (cafeteria, Formal Hall and bar).

A two-course dinner for graduates only (Graduate Hall) will be served at 7.30pm on Tuesdays in Hall. This is an informal (no gowns) sit-down dinner for graduate students. It is often followed by a research talk or a social event aimed at graduate students and guests. The deadline for signing up for a dinner on the MCR website is 9.00am on the morning of the dinner.

Breakfast is served in the College Pelican Bar between 8.15-9.00am on Mondays to Fridays and Sundays 9.00-10.00am.

A cafeteria lunch in Hall is served between 12.00-1.30pm on weekdays. Brunch is served on Saturdays between 12.00-1.30pm. Sunday lunch in Hall is 12.30-1.30pm.

There is an evening cafeteria service from 5.45pm to 7.15pm Mondays to Thursdays and from 5.45pm to 7.05pm on Fridays and Sundays. There is also Formal Hall at 7.45pm on Fridays and Sundays. Gowns are required for Formal Hall and everyone seated by 7.40pm promptly. Students need to sign up for Formal Hall by Thursday at 12.00pm for Friday and by Friday at 12.00pm for Sunday.

The Catering Manager is responsible for catering arrangements in College. The College Kitchen and Bar (K&B) Committee welcome any suggestions concerning the catering arrangements – please contact the MCR K&B representative.

The College Bar

The College Pelican bar is open Mondays to Fridays 8.15am-2.00pm, Saturdays 12.00–11.00pm and Sundays 9.00am–2.00pm. Evening opening times are: Mondays to Thursdays 6.00pm–10.30pm, Fridays and Sundays 6.30pm–11.00pm.

The Leckhampton Bar

The Leckhampton Bar offers a very friendly atmosphere as it is located directly in Leckhampton House and operated by student volunteers only. New volunteers to act as bar staff are more than welcome — please contact the MCR Bar Manager, Jiri Cevora, if you are interested.

The Leckhampton Bar will be open for purchases in the Stephen Hales Room on Thursday and Saturday evenings from 7.00pm and on additional days depending on demand. The Bar is for the use of members of the College only, although guests may of course be entertained. The Bar accepts payment by College (University) card only, except for major events when cash will also be accepted from visitors. Postgraduates are also very welcome at the College Bar on the central site.
