'Don’t lose sight of how essential you are': Model writes open letter to Kanye West after his hospitalization to remind him of the lives he changed

A model who worked on a Yeezy show has written an open letter to Kanye West in the wake of his recent hospitalization.

Ebonee Davis, 23, who has worked for the likes of Calvin Klein and Sports Illustrated, was one of many models to be chosen to pose in Kanye's Yeezy Season 4 line earlier this year - a particularly special gig for Ebonee, who regards the rapper as one of her heroes.

So, when she heard that Kanye had been hospitalized for mental exhaustion after exhibiting some erratic behavior, she decided to reach out to the 39-year-old father of two and tell him: 'remember who you are.'

Speaking out: Model Ebonee Davis, 23, has written an open letter to Kanye West following his hospitalization

Beauty on the rise: Ebonee was one of the models chosen to feature in Kanye West's Yeezy Season 4 line

Ignition: Kanye caused concern with a series of controversial statements during a concert in Sacramento on Saturday

In the letter, published on CR Fashion Book, Ebonee begins by describing her experience modelling for Yeezy.

'I walked in your fashion show for the first time and meeting you was as one of the most memorable experiences of my life,' she writes. 'We didn’t talk much. Actually, we didn't talk at all because I was too nervous to speak up (you know how that s*** goes).

'But if I could have said anything in that moment, it would have been "thank you." Thank you for all that you've shown me as an artist and as a human being,' she adds.

The young woman goes on to document her younger days from the age of 11, when Kanye's The College Dropout came out, and how her father, a single parent of three, faced financial struggles in Seattle that eventually resulted in their home being foreclosed on.

'I watched my dads spirit crushed under the weight of the American dream,' she writes.

Out and about: Ebonee wrote that Kanye's music was the soundtrack to her childhood

Showing the love: Throughout her letter, Ebonee uses Kanye's lyrics to punctuate anecdotes bout her life

Throughout her letter, Ebonee inserts snippets of Kanye lyrics to illustrate her story, such as when she declares she 'shoulda been signed twice' when she moved to New York City in 2012 to pursue modelling.

'There were so many people who told me "no." But I made it— you made it,' she says. 'Not many people make it out of the situations we made it out of and build a platform large enough to influence a nation.

'Don’t lose sight of how essential you are,' she adds. 'Don’t forget that you were chosen to be in this position.'

The College Dropout, she explains, taught her all about race in society, about familial struggles and strengthened her own faith.

She also describes seeing him perform at the Harper's Bazaar party during fashion week, saying that the people around her Snapchatting him onstage 'couldn't begin fathom what it meant to me to see a performance by someone who had such a deeply profound impact on my life.'

Big moment: Ebonee thanks Kanye for teaching her about society and race through his music

Big moment: While everyone else at Kanye's Harper's Bazaar performance during fashion week was Snapchatting, Ebonee was in heaven

Not ideal: She adds that she thinks Kanye's support of Donald Trump is 'hurtful and harmful'

'It breaks my heart to see you going through whatever you're dealing with right now,' she says, calling him a 'super-hero' who has 'saved so many lives.'

Confessing that she had meant to write the letter for some time, Ebonee was spurred into action upon hearing the news of Kanye's hospitalization, which came after days of erratic and angry behavior and the cancellation of the rest of his Saint Pablo tour.

But despite her adoration, Ebonee can not ignore the more offensive moments that preceded Kanye heading into the hospital.

'It's hurtful and harmful when you say things like you'd vote for Trump, if you voted at all,' she says. 'That's not the Kanye who said “N****s can’t make it to the ballots to choose leadership, but we can make it to Jacob’s and to the dealership.”

'So many people look up to you including myself. Kanye, you are the genius you say you are. You are as talented as you say you are. We believe in you so much. We are not judging you. We are praying for you.'
