As Thanksgiving kicks off in the US, Australian stars living abroad have joined in on the celebrations.

From Miranda Kerr and Naomi Watts to Elle Macpherson and Curtis Stone, home-grown celebrities have taken to social media to mark the American holiday.

Supermodel Miranda shared several behind-the-scenes snaps and video of her festive recipes on Instagram.

'#happythanksgiving (sic),' the 33-year-old shared alongside a snap of a turkey being prepped for roasting.

'About to go in the oven,' the text on the image read.

Meanwhile the Kora Organics founder also had several other dishes on the go, with a video showing her prepare a sweet potato bake as well as a turkey stuffing recipe.

Feast: Miranda was also seen preparing sweet potato bake and even a pecan pie for dessert

Topping off with dessert, the mother-of-one also showed off her baking skills with a healthy looking pecan pie.

Miranda wasn't the only celebrity celebrating the holidays in the kitchen.

Naomi Watts, 48, appeared to learn several cooking tips from a professional chef.

'Happy thanksgiving!! Thanks to this guy,' the actress captioned a happy snap of herself posing with the New York caterer and a huge turkey.

She appeared to poke fun at her culinary skills, adding the hash-tags: 'call the experts' and 'know your limits'.

In another photo, the Shut In star was seen preparing fresh pasta with her chef buddy by her side.

'Learned how to make butternut squash ravioli. Happy thanksgiving to everyone!!' she gushed.

Hugh Jackman simply shared a snap of himself while at a beach, writing: 'Happy Thanksgiving #allbehappy (sic).'

Looking youthful as ever, the 48-year-old cut a handsome figure in an all-black ensemble of jeans and a T-shirt, keeping warm with a large puffer jacket.

Also joining the celebrations were supermodel Elle Macpherson, celebrity chef Curtis Stone, and actress Tammin Sursok.

Elle, 52, appeared to be holidaying in the Bahamas as she wished her fans a happy Thanksgiving.

Cooking sensation Curtis reposted a photo shared by his wife Lindsay Price, who was busy prepping dishes for their family dinner.

'Late last night after my children went to sleep this insane knife wielding scotch drinking woman took over my kitchen and I woke up this morning with stuffing in my fridge,' Lindsay's post read.
