Penelope Cruz was supported by sister Monica on Thursday night at her red carpet premiere at Callao City Lights, Spain - but it was hard to tell them apart.

Actress Penelope, 42, was premiering her new film La Reina De España when her lookalike sibling, 39, crashed the red carpet for a cuddle.

Penelope, the exquisite wife of Javier Bardem, held her own in a dazzling silver dress which hugged to every inch of her hourglass shape.

Stepping out to the premiere of her new film La Reina De España, Penelope Cruz stole the spotlight in a stunning silver gown by Atelier Versace.

From the one-shoulder design, to the eye-catching embellishment, the fabulous frock exuded old-school Hollywood glamour.

It's not the first time Penelope has turned to esteemed label Versace on the red-carpet. The actress has worn the design house many times before, most recently at the Zoolander 2 premiere and the 2016 Goya Film Awards.

Penelope was the ultimate screen siren with her lips lined in red, not looking a day older than her younger sister.

Monica, to her left, wore a classic black dress and cut a distinctly similar appearance to Penelope.

The brunette wore a dress that cut low on her neckline but served up just enough to avoid upstaging her sister on her big night.

She was also posing with co-star Chino Darin, who plays Leo, and looked slick in a black suit.

Penelope stars in new comedy drama La Reina De España - or The Queen of Spain - a film that she has been promoting in Madrid for the last month.

The film is written and directed by Fernando Trueba and serves as a sequel to Trueba's 1998 drama The Girl Of Your Dreams.

Penelope reprises her role as Macarena Granada, who has become a Hollywood star and returns to Spain to film a blockbuster about the Queen.

It is a Spanish-language film and not only is Penelope starring in the film but she is executive producing.

The multi-talented actress has already lined up three projects for 2017, an Untitled Asghar Farhadi Project, Murder On The Orient Express and Escobar.
