Reality Bites back with a kiss! Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke share a sweet smooch onstage at Gotham Awards 

Their real life reunion certainly beat their onscreen romance over 20 years ago.

While Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke were on-again-off-again in 1994's Reality Bites, on Monday night they showed no signs of hesitation.

The actress, 45, presented her former costar with the Film Tribute Award at the Gotham Awards.

As she presented him with the gong the two shared a passionate kiss onstage.  

The two actors have remained busy through the years, with Ethan, 46, promoting his latest film. 

In Born To Be Blue, Hawke plays Chet Baker, in a 'semi-factual, semi-fictional' account of the legendary jazz musician's life.

It recounts how he first became addicted to heroin, and how he hand his teeth smashed in by muggers during a robbery, which left him unable to play for months - two of the sadder factual events that befell the trumpeter.

Next up for Ethan is an as-yet-unspecified role opposite Carla Delevingne and Dane DeHaan in Luc Besson's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, due 2017.

Winona meanwhile is getting set to reprise her lauded role as Joyce Byers in the second season of the original Netflix smash hit Stranger Things.

Another blast from Winona's past making a comeback is the TV Land remake of her 1988 film, Heathers.

Shannen Doherty recently confirmed she had rejoined the cast, while Winona has yet to reveal if she will follow suit.
