Corpus and Britten Sinfonia

Corpus and Britten Sinfonia are teaming up for the final time this season to arrange a special offer for Corpus alumni attending the Sounthbank Centre season of concerts. Any Old Member who books tickets for the final concert of the orchestra’s London season will receive an invitation to the Benefactors’ pre-concert drinks and interval drinks, courtesy of the College. The invitation will include guests booking with the Old Member.

Britten Sinfonia, one of the most highly regarded chamber orchestras in Europe, has Cambridge as its home city. Made up of first rate chamber players and renowned for its innovative and energetic approach to programming and performing, Britten Sinfonia presents concert series in Cambridge, Norwich and London as well as touring in the UK and abroad.

We hope this will be an opportunity to meet other Corpus alumni and members of the orchestra at the concerts, enjoy a free glass of wine, and listen to one of the best chamber orchestras in the world performing an entertaining and interesting programme of music.

The concert will take place on Wednesday 30th April 2008 and will feature Masaaki Suzuki and Carolyn Sampson. Further details about this can be found here.

In order for Old Members to identify one another at the concert receptions, the College is issuing small enamel Pelican badges to anyone who books concert tickets. Just before each concert, we will be able to email a list of other Old Members who have informed us that they are coming.

It is hoped that fellows and other members of the College will be able to attend as many concerts as possible, to help make these events a blend of reunion and music.

A number of Old Members have already let us know they will be attending this final concert, if you would like to join them, please let the Development Office know that you’ve booked tickets for the concert. Email lvg21@cam.ac.uk or phone 01223 339731.
