Tutorial Matters

At Corpus we think that students’ welfare is of paramount importance, and have a team of experienced, well trained and dedicated staff to provide pastoral support.

The Senior Tutor, Dr Marina Frasca-Spada (senior-tutor@corpus.cam.ac.uk), is assisted by the Tutorial Administrator and a group of Tutors, all of whom meet formally every fortnight to discuss matters of policy and any current issues. At these meetings, which are also attended by the Dean of Chapel, are frequently invited the College counsellor, members of the Disabilities Resource Centre, of the Counselling Service, or of other bodies relevant to welfare-related matters.

The Senior Tutor and all Tutors have received training by a professional counsellor covering a range of mental health issues (especially depression, anxiety, eating disorders), and are experienced in dealing with issues arising from Aspergers and autism, and from various disabilities (e.g. visual impairment, Specific Learning Disabilities (SLDs), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)). In addition, informal meetings between the Senior Tutor, individual Tutors and relevant support staff from such bodies are held whenever needed.

We normally respond to students’ requests of assistance within 24 hours, usually faster. One of us is always there for our students in case of an emergency.

Wendy Klein (wjk22@corpus.cam.ac.uk) or tel 01223 764296 is the Tutorial Administrator. Her office is upstairs on ‘A’ in New Court. She is happy to assist with problems and enquiries of all descriptions, and Undergraduates are always very welcome to call into the Tutorial Office at any time between 9 am and 4 pm on weekdays. Wendy is a good starting point for advice about both college and general Cambridge matters if you are not sure to whom to address your query. If she doesn’t know the answer herself she’ll be able to direct you to someone who can help you.

He lives in college (Room D4) and has a general pastoral role for the whole Corpus community. He is there for you whether or not you are a religious person, and you are most welcome to talk to him in confidence at any time and on any matter.  Corpus is an exciting, and happy place, but it can be stressful at times, and you are welcome to call on him in times of anxiety, or if there is something you would like to talk through – whether or not it is spiritual.

Out of working hours, undergraduates should contact the Duty Porter on 01223 338000 for help in emergencies.
