And Niall Horan has further added fuel to the fire by teasing during an interview with Los Angeles' 102.7 KIIS-FM radio that he would be interested in giving their romance another go.

Speaking to radio host Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday morning, Niall addressed the rumours - yet did nothing to dispel them.

When the Perfect hitmaker revealed, 'I don't have a girlfriend', Seacrest responded, 'You should rekindle with Selena. I like her.'

The Irish star cheekily replied: 'Sort it out!'

Probed further about his love life, Niall divulged it had been 'about a year' since his last serious relationship, adding that he 'prefers' being single.

This comes after Selena, 24, and Niall, 23, appeared on good terms at the American Music Awards earlier this month.

The former Disney sweetheart, who was feted with the Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist gong, was congratulated by the One Direction star, 23, when he reportedly lauded her for doing 'so well', according to E! News.

According to the source, the two singers were piling on the PDA throughout the night, as they celebrated Jenna's 35th birthday party, and an insider told Us Weekly that they left together.

The source added: 'Niall and Selena definitely seemed very close and like they were together.

'Niall got there first with his bodyguard, then the next thing I know, I looked over and Selena was there. They were very close together, talking and whispering.'
