'And I think we should absolutely do it. We’re working on it, so we’ll see if it happens!,' she added.

Jimmy joked about rebooting the franchise with the 'Brotherhood Of Traveling Pants with me, Kevin Hart, we can get Paul Rudd in there, Mark Paul Gosselaar.'

He then offered another plot that Alexis, Blake, 29, Amber, 33, and America, 32, could consider.

'I seriously think though, you come out with the third one, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, get the whole team back together and you guys talk to each other,” he said.

'You're older now and you go, ''Hey, who has the pants?'' Where are the pants? You go, ''Wait, I thought you had them.'' You go, ''Wait, I just checked my FedEx tracking number — you had them the last time'',' Jimmy said.

Alexis playfully ran with the idea.

'And then it gets a little hostile, maybe there's a conflict.

Jimmy joked that 'maybe someone's kid is wearing the pants. Maybe someone’s mom is wearing the pants.'

Part two: Alexis, America, Amber and Blake reunited for a 2008 sequel

'Maybe it’s been put on a scarecrow and it’s turned into a horror movie,' he quipped.

'We have to figure it out,' Alexis said laughing.

Alexis was promoting her new Netflix series Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.

The actress reprised her role of Rory Gilmore from the Gilmore Girls that ran for seven seasons on The WB and The CW from 2000 to 2007.

Alexis also revealed her favourite Gilmore Girls characters to Jimmy.

Top picks: The 35-year-old, who plays Rory Gilmore, failed to pick any members of her fictional family for her top four

The brunette beauty told the talk show host that her first pick would be Caesar - the chef at Luke's diner - played by Aris Alvarado.

'He's under-rated, he's amazing,' she enthused to Jimmy.

Alexis then chose Babette [Dell] and Miss Patty, who are played by Sally Struthers and Liz Torres respectively.

Chef: She named Caesar as her favourite character

She said they made her list because they had a blast on set, explaining: 'They were on All in the Family together. Every time they would come to set they would get together and sing show tunes.

'It was such a raucous day on set every time they were there, so I have to appreciate them.'

Her final choice was Kirk [Gleason], played by Sean Gunn.

Quizzing: Jimmy asked her about her favourite characters

Netflix announced a revival of Gilmore Girls with a series of four 90-minute films set around the four seasons earlier this year and they were released on November 25.

Fans got to see a passionate - and clandestine - reunion.

Rory, it turns out, is cheating on her three-year beau Paul with her ex Logan Huntzberger, who is himself engaged to another woman.

Alexis told Entertainment Tonight that 'I think it's a little uncomfortable for [Rory] even though she's kind of putting on a brave face that she's fine with it.'

Animated: The star gestured as she spoke about the return of the fan favourite

Elegant: She's grown up in the nine years it's been off air

Come back: Jimmy chatted to her about the return of the show

Admitting that her character's philandering 'did surprise me,' the star confided: 'I think she's actually not that emotionally connected to it.'

She elaborated: 'I think she's kind of just going through the motions at this point when we pick up with them.'

Rory and Logan had a tempestuous relationship whilst she was a student at Yale University near the end of the original WB programme.

Their romance ultimately splintered when he took a job in Silicon Valley and she stayed on the east coast to become a journalist.

Under-rated: The brunette beauty told the talk show host that her first pick would be Caesar - played by Aris Alvarado

Matt Czuchry, who plays Logan, leapt to his character's defence when chewing over his unfaithfulness with Entertainment Weekly.

Theorising that 'they were both in the same place at the same time,' he insisted: 'Rory and Logan have always had a love for each other that has gone back and forth, and they've never really wanted to say goodbye.'

In real life she's had more romantic success, and has been married to Mad Men co-star Vincent Kartheiser since 2014.

They welcomed their first child, a son, a year ago.
