Chris Pratt has previously admitted that he 'compartmentalized' his grief after losing his dad while working on Jurassic World in 2014.

And now the 37-year-old has revealed that he finally came to terms with his father's death while working on the much-anticipated Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2.

In an interview with the new issue of British GQ, Chris discussed processing his loss while filming the sequel, in which his character Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) searches for his father.

'The truth is I ripped open some wounds that had been healing for some time,' he said. 'And I didn't want to. But I knew it was right for the moment.

'There are wounds that are never going to be totally healed. It would probably make for a better story if it was some emotional thing that I hadn't dealt with.'

Chris added: 'When we face the death of a parent, you sometimes feel regret that you didn’t fully embrace what you had.'

Last year, the actor had told the magazine about how he struggled to deal with his loss while working on Jurassic Park, and turned to alcohol.

'I knew being the lead in the movie that I was really responsible for everybody's attitude, and so I compartmentalized it all and dealt with it in my own way, but not openly for people to see,' he said.

'I got pretty angry and got drunk and almost got in a fight with a drug dealer outside of my hotel room.'

Revealing what his father, who died after battling multiple sclerosis, was like, Chris added: 'He was a hard worker. My brother and I talk about it.

'Part of us appreciate that he made us tough, you know, through sort of emotional scarification.'

Chris is currently promoting his sci fi movie Passengers with Jennifer Lawrence, which hits cinemas on December 25.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is then due for release in May, and will see Kurt Russell portraying Peter's father.
