The TV host, 39, showcased her new baby bump in a bright red top and a cosy navy wool coat with gold button detailing as she strolled around during filming with co-presenter Matt Baker, 38.

Bumping along: Alex Jones proved pregnancy was suiting her down to the ground as she got to work on the set of The One Show at the BBC Studios in central London on Wednesday night

Showing off her slim pins in a pair of skintight jeans, the Welsh presenter proved she hasn't given up her heels just yet as she strutted about in a pair of towering black leather shoe boots.

The television personality wore her brunette locks in lightly-tousled waves and showcased her radiant pregnancy glow with natural make-up.

Alex and insurance broker husband of one year, Charlie Thomson, announced they were expecting their first child together in September.

The couple tied the knot on New Year's Eve 2015 in a romantic ceremony at Cardiff Castle in Alex's native Wales, but they initially feared they had left it too late to start a family.

In an interview with This Morning in September, Alex revealed her 'naivety' over the life expectancy of her own fertility.

Talking about a documentary she filmed on the topic when she was aged 38, she said: 'My mum went through the menopause at 44 and that's six years older than me.

'I wasn't pregnant when I filmed the documentary. I was 38 and it was terrifying. I was naive. I knew age impacts your fertility but I didn't realise to what extent.'

Alex also said that it was during filming that she first discovered that her mother had early onset menopause.

'Mum and I never talked about it,' she said. 'It never came up. I always wanted a family. Mum never put pressure on me or my sister to have kids. She probably thought I didn't need to know it.'

The popular TV presenter also shunned the idea that she left it late to have a family because she was simply a career woman.

'I'm not just a career girl. No one leaves it late on purpose. For me, family is a number one priority. I didn't meet my husband til later on in life. I thought it would be OK. '

In March, Alex revealed she was keen to start a family with her New Zealand-born husband, Charlie.

'I think it can be insensitive to ask women of a certain age if they’re going to have children because you just don’t know what’s going on in their lives,' she explained in an interview with Essentials magazine.

'We haven’t started the process, so we don’t know yet how things will go, but hopefully everything will be fine. It would be amazing to have a family.'

The star also joked that she and Charlie have been under pressure to have children ever since they started a family, even though they are still very much in the honeymoon period.

Alex said: 'To give you a bit of background, we got married on New Year’s Eve and literally two days later the first person said, "So when are you going to have a baby?" And I was like, "Shut up".

'I just think that women should support women and we all know that it can be tough and it's a really dangerous question I think to ask anybody over the age of 30.'

Speaking at a Fertility Health Summit organised by The British Fertility Society in April, she added: 'Like most girls I spent my 20s and most of my 30s not wanting to get pregnant. That was the mission, wasn’t it?

'And then it’s just like Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of The Heart and the day arrives and then you go, "Gosh, maybe we should have a baby".

'And then obviously you are faced with quite a complicated potential process and I didn’t feel that I had any information whatsoever.'

Alex and Charlie are now looking forward to hearing the pitter-patter of tiny feet early next year.

But the couple have joked that they are keen for their first child to arrive on his or her due date, because they are still renovating their home.

Alex said on ITV's Lorraine last month: 'I can’t wait until the baby arrives!

'We just hope it doesn’t come too soon as we haven’t got anywhere to live yet! We're still renovating.'
