Kelly Rowland flipped the style script at the 2016 Ebony Power 100 Gala on Thursday night.

The 35-year-old took a big fashion risk for the star-studded event in Beverly Hills, California.

The singer stepped put in an unusual matching two piece ensemble featuring velvet shorts and an oversize jacket.

The shorts and top had an intricate white embroidered design across them that helped the look make a big impact on the carpet.

While her jacket may have swallowed her frame, the shorts allowed the star to show off her toned thighs.

Making the look sexier, the former Destiny's Child star wore some semi-sheer black stockings and a pair of thigh high stiletto suede boots.

Also joining the actress at the gala was Regina King, who wore a more traditional red carpet look.

The Southland actress wore a green classic cocktail length dress which cinched in at the waist with a gold belt.

The 45-year-old's dress featured a dramatic voluminous collar and she teamed it with a pair of pointed suede heels.

Also wearing green was Garcelle Beauvais, who stepped out in a caped number.

The annual gala celebrates those in the black community that have been inspirational to those around them.

This year's nominees include the Obamas, Beyonce, Colin Kaepernick and Chance The Rapper.

Singer Nile Rodgers received the Ebony Icon Award on Thursday.
