It's been rumored for years that Katie Homes is in a 'secret relationship' with Jamie Foxx, and recently the gossip escalated to suggest the two were 'secretly married.'

But in an interview with the New York Times, published online on Friday, the actress, 37, tried to quash the speculation.

Asked whether she was 'still single or is there a secret marriage we have to talk about?' the former Dawson's Creek star responded: 'Nooo, I'm not married. But thank you for asking.'

Of course, she didn't reveal whether or not she is in fact dating anyone right now.

Holmes is currently doing publicity for her directorial feature debut All We Had, hence the daily interviews and myriad photo calls at the moment.

Following her divorce from Tom Cruise four years ago, she's been juggling her career with raising daughter Suri, 10, as a single mom.

The two are very close and she dedicates her new film to her child.

'I want her to always know that she's the inspiration behind everything, and so hopefully it means something as she gets older,' the actress explained to the NY Times.

She also said she tries to keep Suri distanced from Hollywood as much as possible.

'I try to make our world very much an environment that's just all about being a kid without too much of Hollywood coming into that. And I just enjoy it,' Holmes said. 'I'm really enjoying having a 10-year-old. She's a remarkable person.'

Earlier this week, Holmes told Modern Luxury magazine that she's focused on giving Suri 'the childhood I want her to have.'

Holmes was raised the youngest of five children in Toledo, Ohio, and has three sisters and a brother.

Her father Martin is a divorce attorney and her mother Kathleen was a stay-at-home mom.

The Dawson's Creek star has remained close to her parents and siblings and makes regular trips back home to Ohio to spend time with them. And staying in touch with her relatives is important for Suri, she said.

'We do a lot of cousin time with my nieces and nephews,' she explained.
