Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez train as Barcelona prepare for Borussia Monchengladbach encounter

Barcelona have had to put their disappointment of conceding a late equaliser in El Clasico behind them as they gear up for midweek Champions League action.

The Catalans were held to 1-1 home draw by bitter rivals Real Madrid in La Liga on Saturday when Sergio Ramos silenced the Nou Camp crowd late on with a header.

However, attentions have quickly turned to Europe for Luis Enrique's side ahead of their Tuesday encounter with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Barcelona's stars took to the training field on Monday morning at their Ciutat Esportiva base prior to their clash against their German opponents.

The five-time champions have already qualified as Group C winners with Gladbach assured of a Europa League spot in third.

Two of Barcelona's stellar triumvirate Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were present during the session - with the latter in particular looking in high spirits.

However, fellow forward Neymar wasn't seen with the main group. The Brazilian will miss Tuesday's game due to suspension after being booked against Celtic last month. The same applies to midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

Instead Neymar and Gerard Pique both did specific exercises aside from the squad.

It has since been confirmed that Neymar is suffering 'muscle fatigue in the groin area' and will be doing 'special physiotherapy for the next few days.'

'The FC Barcelona medical services conducted tests on striker Neymar Jr this Monday morning are were able to confirm that the trouble he is feeling is due to muscle fatigue in the groin area,' the club announced in a statement on their website.

'They also determined that there is no sign of any injury.

'It means that the Brazilian will be doing special physiotherapy for the next few days and his return to normal training will depend on how matters progress.'

In the absence of Neymar and Pique, Barcelona were joined by Carles Alena and Marc Cardona of the B team, two of the five debutants in last week's Copa del Rey match in Alicante.
