First of all, you are 19, you will be fine. The statistics are highly in your favor, and you will be okay.

Your family is going to get tested, you all will be stuck home for two weeks. It may be hard because nobody will feel fine, but you are all going to be okay.

That was great that you told your friend, so they can make a good decision. But thats all you can do. You can't control other people, just be honest and transparent.

As an andectdotal side note, stop looking at reddit. Youre reading either the worst case scenarios, or sometimes even just made up stories. Most people have a very mild case, or a bad flu, and then get over it and get better. Yes, some people get hit really bad, and so we need to try to protect them, but once again, that probably won't be you. I have an uncle who is in his 70s, morbidly obese, diabetes...he got it. We were all scared to death. He was pretty sick for five days, and then got better. My younger relatives that got it,had a bad cold for a few days and were over it quickly. I have a friend that works in a nursing home that had an outbreak. Most of the elderly survived, even though they lost some. RIP. I say that to say even old, very sick people are recovering, not all, but most of even them even survive. And this was back in April. The death rates have gone way down since then.

So, take a deep breath. Anxiety could be worse than the bug. Deep breaths, lots of rest, stay in your room, watch movies, sleep.

Youre going to be okay. Your family will be okay. Try to stay positive.

Best of luck! Update us when you're on the other side.

I work in a lab in the administrative side of registering people's Covid-19 samples, whether they be from the HSE or private clinics. We send the result to the HSE who then text it on if you got it done in a testing centre, or for private clinics we might send a text to you directly or to your GP who will then forward it on to you.

Any other questions AMAA.

How long does it take to get results?

3 points · 4 months ago

HSE average turnaround time is 24-48 hours, private ones could be same day or the following morning.

I'm old, but had major depression in high school, even without covid. I couldn't get out of bed, didn't go out, felt suicidal in spurts.

Decades later, I dont even relate with that person. My high school self is like a stranger to me. Myself in my 20's is another stranger. Life changes in wild ways and you will change too. I've lived all over the world, had a wild life, and it wouldn't have happened if I hadn't decided to just keep going. It hasn't always been good times, but I've made it. You can too.

Don't sell yourself short. You can always end it later, but just give yourself another few years and see what happens. You will be surprised at where life brings you. Its a journey. Just keep going.

It is really hard, but you can do it. Go wild. Start planning an escape from where you're at. College, go abroad, move to a city. You can be in a new life in 2 years. New people. New experiences. Plan something beyond your wildest imagination. Commit to yourself to at least do this before making any final decisions.

For now, high school sucks. They are the shittiest years of life, dressed up like glory days. They're the worst. But you're almost done, and then everything changes. Almost there. Your 20's are where life starts getting interesting and fun. Almost there.

Best of luck friend. You are stronger than you realize.

Also, fuck covid. You're low risk. Live your life. Do what you need to do, just stay away from the elderly. It'll be okay.

A 2015 Justice Department analysis of the Philadelphia Police Department found that white police officers were less likely than black or Hispanic officers to shoot unarmed black suspects.

Some quotes from the analysis:

The racial composition of suspects in OISs (officer-involved shootings) was 80 percent Black, 10 percent Hispanic, 9 percent White, and 1 percent Asian. ...

White suspects were unarmed in 8 of 32 OISs (25 percent). Black suspects were unarmed in 45 of 285 OISs (15.8 percent). Hispanic suspects were unarmed in 5 of 34 OISs (14.7 percent). And Asian suspects were unarmed in 1 of 5 OISs (20 percent). Looking more closely at OISs shows that Black suspects in OISs were the most likely to be the subject of a threat perception failure (8.8 percent) and White suspects in OISs were the most likely (18.8 percent) to be involved in a physical altercation resulting in an OIS. ...

Our analysis shows that the suspects in officer-involved shootings were overwhelmingly Black. That same pattern was apparent in unarmed persons shot by the PPD. Our analysis also shows that threat perception failures (TPF) occur with suspects of all races. Black suspects have had the highest TPF rate (8.8 percent), more than twice the rate of White suspects (3.1 percent). It is clear that the Black community is disproportionately impacted by extreme violence involving the police. The department must remain cognizant of this fact and improve academy training to better prepare officers for policing in a multicultural society. ...

Our analysis found that Black suspects were subject to threat perception failures (TPF) in 9 percent of OISs, more than twice the rate of White suspects. Additionally, Black, White, and Hispanic officers each had relatively high rates of TPFs when the suspect was Black. Although the samples of white and Hispanic suspects are too small for a strong comparative analysis to black suspects, the pattern emerging out of the PPD’s OISs would generally support the notion that unconscious bias plays a role in deadly force decision making and TPFs. However, we stress that this is notional, and our analysis found the differences could be due to chance and not a pattern. Nevertheless, the PPD should address the issue head-on in training.

Your study shows white people are unarmed in 25% and black people are unarmed in 15% of the shootings.

That means white people are more likely to be shot unarmed than black people.

The only possibly damning stats in that is threat perception biases against black people, but if black people commit 50% of all murders, and 60% of violent crimes then what do you expect?

I also just caught this opinion piece in WSJ by Heather Mac Donald

What I don't understand is a few things.

One she never accounts for population density.

If all things were equal we should we more whites shot by police than blacks (we do) but it doesn't account for the fact that based on most recent census data our nation is 76% white, 13% black.

Another thing that seemed odd to me is when stating

Assuming a comparable number of victims last year, those nine unarmed black victims of police shootings represent 0.1% of all African-Americans killed in 2019.

Why are they comparing all homicides against the total black population homicides rather than those being killed by police only. It seems misleading.

I had a lot more but typing on mobile and trying to copy/paste data is killing me

She does account for population density, quoting studies that take that into account along with the type of crime being committed actually shows black people are killed less than white people when everything is adjusted.

I really like this theory.

This ties in to Einstein's "spooky action at a distance," aka quantum entanglement. Essentially, at a quantum level, at least, two objects separated by distance still interact with eachother and determine each other's state or condition.

The question is whether these disturbances are reaching back in time and changing the reality in the actual time, or is the disturbances only changing our memories. Since we cant really explain what a memory is in a physical sense, it could possibly be either, or maybe both.

Interesting. Well done.

Prepping is not panic buying.

My prepping has meant that I haven't bought any toilet paper, soap, etc since the panic started (actually gave some away). Haven't contributed to the crowds, since I'm at home. I've only bought some produce, dairy and milk, and it wasnt much.

It was a good thing to do.
